    2025 Preakness Stakes Predictions: Sandman

    • Post Position: 7
    • Odds: 4-1

    Sandman is one of only two horses that ran in the Kentucky Derby entered in the Preakness. He only finished in seventh at Churchill. But Sandman finished inside the top three in the four races prior to the Kentucky Derby, including a win at the Arkansas Derby. Along with his win at the Arkansas Derby, he recorded wins at Oaklawn and Saratoga last year. His trainer, Mark Casse, won the Preakness in 2019.

    John Velazquez is his jockey for the race, replacing Jose Ortiz who rode Sandman at Churchill. Velazquez won the Preakness in 2023 on National Treasure. A strong closer, many experts are high on his chances to win. He's certainly a good pick to do just that and I'd definitely use him in exotics.
