2026 Belmont Stakes Odds, Picks & Predictions: Renegade
With the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in the rearview mirror, it’s time for the 2026 Belmont Stakes. The final jewel of the triple crown, the Test of the Champion, is typically the longest of the three races at a full 1.5 miles. However, the 2026 Belmont Stakes will run at the historic Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., rather than at Belmont Park, for the third year in a row, as renovations continue at the race's usual home. That means the distance is being reduced from 1.5 miles to 1.25 miles due to the difference in the tracks’ circumferences. The Arkansas Derby champion has a career record of 6: 2-3-1 and has never failed to hit the board despite some rough starts. Renegade last raced at the aforementioned Kentucky Derby from the #1 post and got knocked around as most horses do on the rail. The good news is that, since 2022, two of the four Belmont winners have previously started from the one hole: Mo Donegal ('22) and Dornoch ('24). Mo Donegal was trained by Renegade's trainer, Todd Pletcher. The Dallas native is a 4x Belmont Stakes winner (2007, '13, '17, '22) as well as a two-time Kentucky Derby winner ('10, '17). Renegade will be starting the #4 post and gives Pletcher an excellent shot at Belmont Stakes win #5.
