Big3 Picks & Predictions: Best Bets for Week 5 (Sunday)

As we head into Week 5 of the Big3 season, not a single team remains undefeated. The league is wide open and is truly anyone’s to win. Below, I’ll break down each matchup for this weekend’s slate and add a best bet for each game. Here are our top Big3 picks and predictions for Week 5.

Big3 Week 5 Best Bets & Picks

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

DMV Trilogy vs. Miami 305

The DMV Trilogy lost their third consecutive game against the Chicago Triplets a couple of weeks ago. The DMV Trilogy put up a fight, but just fell short against the Chicago Triplets. In that game, Mike Taylor finished with 20 points. Franklin Session and Earl Clark also scored in the double figures, but they’re not getting much help from the bench.

The defense also couldn’t get stops against Montrezl Harrell and Nasir Core in that game.

Meanwhile, Miami 305 added a 19-point win over the Boston Ball Hogs. Michael Beasley stepped up and scored 22 points and Lance Stephenson scored 12. This team is well-balanced and has plenty of depth. In addition, there’s so much former NBA talent on this roster.

Pick: Miami 305 -7.5 (-115)

Dallas Power vs. Chicago Triplets

In the first two weeks of the season, many games were close. In Week 3, that wasn’t the case. Dallas Power destroyed the Detroit Amps, 51-30, holding the Detroit Amps to only nine points in the second half.

Glen Rice Jr. went off for 22 points and currently has the most points scored in the league. Paul Millsap and Greg Monroe were also heavy contributors. This trio looked unstoppable a couple of weeks ago.

That said, they’ll take on a Chicago Triplets squad that is 2-1 after defeating the DMV Triology. The Triplets aren’t getting much production from anyone other than Montrezl Harrell and Nasir Core. Chris Allen and Jason Richardson are good on the glass, but they’re not doing much else.

I’ll take the Dallas Power.

Pick: Dallas Power -2.5 (-115)

Boston Ball Hogs vs. LA Riot

The Boston Ball Hogs couldn’t score more than 17 in a half against Miami 305 in Week 3. Jonathan Simmons was balling, but he’s the only one who scored in double figures for the Boston Ball Hogs in that game. That’s super concerning.

This weekend, they’ll face the LA Riot, who earned a 50-46 win over Houston Rig Hands a couple of weeks ago. Dwight Howard, Wesley Johnson and Jordan Crawford scored in double figures in the win. This trio should be able to hold on against a Ball Hogs team that simply doesn’t have enough offensive firepower.

Pick: LA Riot -8.5 (-115)

Detroit Amps vs. Houston Rig Hands

The Detroit Amps had one of the worst second halves we’ve ever seen in the Big3 in Week 3, scoring only nine points in a 51-30 loss to the Dallas Power. Jeremy Pargo scored 18 points, but no other player scored more than five points. In addition, Pargo leads the league in assists, so if he’s the highest scorer, that’s a problem.

That said, Joe Johnson was out for that game, and it’s still unclear if he’ll be able to play in this one. Clearly, without Johnson, Detroit will struggle. After missing a game, Johnson is still fourth in the Big3 in points this season.

Conversely, the Houston Rig Hands easily have more offensive weapons. Corey Brewers and Garlon Green have played very well together. Those two scored 33 of the team’s 46 points in Week 3. They should be able to do enough offensively to get by the Amps, especially if Johnson is unavailable.

Pick: Houston Rig Hands -3.5 (-115)
