Big3 Picks & Predictions: Best Bets for Week 9 (Saturday)
This is the last weekend of the Big3 regular season. The top four teams will advance to Week 10, and the finale of the Big3 season will be the following week.
Right now, there are two 5-2 squads and three 4-3 teams heading into this weekend. One of those teams won’t make it to next week. Let’s see which team it will be.
Here are my picks for this weekend’s Big3 matchups.
Big3 Picks: Week 9 Best Bets & Predictions
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Miami 305 vs. Houston Rig Hands Big3 Picks
The Miami 305 choked away a 25-19 first-half lead against the Chicago Triplets last weekend. Now they’re 4-3 and on the cusp of making the playoffs after scoring just 16 points in the second half of last week’s game. Michael Beasley and Lance Stephenson performed offensively, but the defense had no answers for Montrezl Harrell last weekend. He went off on the Miami 305 in the second half.
But lucky for Miami 305, they’re facing a 1-6 Houston Rig Hands squad that just lost to the Dallas Power. The Houston Rig Hands gave up 30 points in the second half of the loss. Ultimately, this team has played better recently. They’ve had a lot of offensive contributors and have been solid on the glass. Yet, the defense was smoked by Glen Rice Jr. and Dajuan Summers in that last game.
Neither team is coming into this game with a lot of momentum. But this game certainly means more for the Miami 305.
Pick: Miami 305 -7.5 (-115)
LA Riot vs. Boston Ball Hogs Big3 Picks
It was a poor start to last week’s game for the LA Riot. They found themselves trailing, 26-18 at halftime, and couldn’t battle back enough in the second half. They’re now 3-4 and will take on the Boston Ball Hogs, who are coming off an enormous win over the Detroit Amps.
The Boston Ball Hogs dominated the Detroit Amps, 52-40, after getting 22 points from Jonathon Simmons and 13 more from DeShawn Stephens. It’s going to be hard for that duo to get stops against Dwight Howard. However, the LA Riot doesn’t have anything else going for it other than Howard.
Howard contributed 18 points and 17 rebounds in their latest loss. Nobody else had more than 12 points and six rebounds. The lack of depth will hurt the LA Riot down the stretch.
I’m on the Boston Ball Hogs.
Pick: Boston Ball Hogs -4.5 (-115)
Dallas Power vs. DMV Trilogy Big3 Picks
The Dallas Power escaped the Houston Rig Hands and are now 5-2 on the season. They’re led by Glen Rice Jr., who currently leads the league in points this season. Last week, the Dallas Power didn’t have Greg Monroe or Paul Millsap. Yet, they still found a way to knock off the Houston Rig Hands.
On the other hand, the DMV Trilogy picked up its second win of the season against the LA Riot. They took advantage of an LA Riot team that has no depth. The Dallas Power has plenty of depth, especially if their bench can get healthier.
We’re sticking with the favorites in this regular season finale.
Pick: DMV Trilogy -7.5 (-115)
Detroit Amps vs. Chicago Triplets Big3 Picks
The Detroit Amps struggled to find consistency on offense in their latest game against the Boston Ball Hogs. They scored no more than 21 points per half and got just 14 points from Cameron Smith and 10 from Jeremy Pargo. Joe Johnson’s continued absence is one of the main reasons the Amps have struggled throughout the season.
On the other hand, the Chicago Triplets probably had the best second half of their season after scoring 31 points against the Miami 305 to go 5-2 on the year. Montrezl Harrell has arguably been the best player in the Big3. But with that said, the team still lacks depth. That shouldn’t be a problem against the Detroit Amps, but this game will likely be closer than some might want to believe.
Let’s back the over. If this game goes down to the wire, it will likely go over the total.
Pick: Over 96.5 Points (-110)
