Champions League Matchday 7 Preview & Best Bets (2024)

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Monaco (+145) vs. Aston Villa (+175), DRAW (+250) | 2.5 (-135/+105)

Tuesday's slate kicks off with a pair of early matches, one of which pits France's Monaco (3-1-2) against England’s Aston Villa (4-1-1-). Kickoff is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. ET from Stade Louis-II in Monaco, France.

I believe that we're getting a great price for visiting Aston Villa in this contest. They've looked excellent on the continental front, posting a 4-1-1 record through the first six matchdays. The Villans have conceded only three goals across those six contests, which is the fourth-best in the competition. Additionally, the English side is unbeaten in its last five matches, going 3-2-0 during the stretch.

Meanwhile, Monaco hasn't won a match in its last four competitions, and it's just 1-3-4 over its last eight matches. They've allowed 10 goals this term (22nd), as well as 14 goals across their current eight-game slide across all competitions. This French club isn't in great form, and with Aston Villa trending upward, I think it's worth a sprinkle on them at +175.

Bet: Aston Villa Moneyline (+175)

Feyenoord (+550) vs. Bayern Munich (-235), DRAW (+400) | 3.5 (+105/-130)

The Champions League schedule continues on Wednesday, and we have a fun contest between the Netherlands' Feyenoord (3-1-2) and Germany's Bayern Munich (4-0-2). This match kicks off at 3:00 p.m. ET from Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The Dutch side has been playing well this term, but they've found themselves in some higher-scoring games throughout the season. They've scored 14 goals (fourth), but have also conceded 15 tallies (31st) across the six matches. The "Club on the Meuse" is also just 25th in xGA (10.2) in UCL action, and they're winless across their last three domestic contests (0-1-2) in the Dutch Eredivisie.

As for Bayern, they're heating up, especially on the offensive side of the pitch. The German giants are in the midst of a 4-0-0 run back home, and they've out-scored their opposition 14-3 during the stretch. Bayern is ranked third in scoring in UCL play (17 goals) and they lead the competition in xG (15.8). With Feyenoord lacking sound defensive play, Bayern Munich should have a path to securing a multi-goal victory on Wednesday.

Bet: Bayern Munich -1.5 (+100)

Paris Saint-Germain (+145) vs. Manchester City (+165), DRAW (+275) | 3.5 (+135/-175)

The marquee game of the matchday comes on Wednesday afternoon, as France's Paris Saint-Germain (2-1-3) squares off against England's Manchester City (2-2-2). Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET from Parc des Princes in Paris, France.

After going dormant for a while, Pep Guardiola and his men appear to be picking up steam as we enter 2025. City has won four of its last five matches (4-1-0), outscoring the opposition 22-3 during that span! They've also been one of the best offenses in UCL play, sitting sixth in goals scored (13) and third in xG (14.5).

Meanwhile, the French side is averaging 1.0 goals per game this UCL season, but the xG metric states that they should have netted 11.1 goals across their six matches. That's the 10th-best mark out of 36 competing teams. PSG is on a 4-0-0 run across all competitions, and they've scored 2+ goals in three out of those four matches. Both of these clubs have a ton of offensive skills, and I think we'll see it on display in this match. I'm going to take this total down to a flat 3.0 goals and play the over. This feels like a match where 2-1 is the floor.

Bet: Alternate Over 3.0 Goals (-120)
