College Basketball Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (2/19)

It’s Monday, and we have 19 total games on the college basketball hardwood with a tip-off of 6 p.m. ET or later. I’m pinch-hitting for Mike Spector, who is away for the week for some R&R before March Madness. We have two weeks to bump up that bankroll to get ready for the conference tournaments and March Madness. Let’s get started!

Virginia at Virginia Tech – 7 p.m. ET

The Cavaliers (20-6) travel to meet the rival Hokies (14-11) on Monday night at Cassell Coliseum, and the game can be viewed on ESPN. Virginia rebounded from a 74-63 loss against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, posting a 49-47 win over Wake Forest Saturday night. The Hoos haven’t covered in the past two, although Virginia is on a 6-3-1 against the spread (ATS) run in their past 10 contests. That 10-game solid run against the number came in a 65-57 win as a 5-point favorite in Charlottesville on Jan. 17. The Hokies have dropped four of the past five outings, while also going just 1-4 ATS in the span. Tech has allowed 74 or fewer points in five straight games, and the Over is 4-0 in the past four if you’re looking for Same-Game Parlay possibilities. We’ll back the ranked Cavaliers moneyline on the road, however, for a much better value.

Bets: Virginia Moneyline (+128)

Nicholls State at New Orleans – 7:30 p.m. ET

The Colonels (13-12) meet the Privateers (8-18) in New Orleans at Lakefront Arena for this Southland Conference battle. Nicholls has picked up wins in three of the past four games, and seven of the previous nine straight up, but UNO has covered in five of the past six meetings. The Privateers have covered three straight meetings at home against the Colonels, too.

Nicholls State has failed to cover two of the past three games, while they are just 6-7 ATS in the past 13 games. UNO has failed to cover the past three outings while going just 1-8 ATS in the past nine, and 3-12 ATS in the previous 15 outings. However, one of those covers came against the Colonels on the road back on Jan. 15, covering as 4.5-point underdogs in a 78-75 loss. The Over (151.5) cashed in that game, while the total has gone high in 11 of the past 13 for the Privateers. While the Under is 4-0 in the past four for the Colonels, the Over is 6-6 in the past 12 games, yet the Over is 3-2 in the past five road conference games.

Bets: New Orleans Moneyline (-106) and Over 149.5 (-114)

William & Mary at College of Charleston – 8 p.m. ET

The Tribe (8-18) hit the road to face the Cougars (19-7) at TD Arena in Charleston, and the game can be viewed on CBS Sports Network. Charleston has won the past five meetings in this series, but the Cougars barely escaped with an 84-83 win in Williamsburg on Feb. 3 as a 12.5-point underdog. The Tribe actually holds a 4-3 ATS edge in the past seven in the series. William & Mary has covered three of the past four games, while going 5-2 ATS in the past seven outings, including that first meeting. Charleston has won four in a row, but it is 1-3 ATS in the past four outings, and it is just 2-4 ATS in the past six tries as a double-digit favorite, and 3-5 ATS in the past eight when favored by 10 or more points. Back the Tribe on the road catching more than eight buckets.

Bets: William & Mary +16.5 (-106)

Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Alabama A&M – 8:30 p.m. ET

The Lions (11-14) travel to meet the Bulldogs (7-18) at the Alabama A&M Events Center for this SWAC battle down south. UAPB posted an 80-74 road win as a 6.5-point underdog at Alabama State, halting a three-game losing skid. The Lions have managed just a 5-10 ATS mark in the past 15 games, including a 63-62 loss at home as a 3.5-point favorite on Jan. 6. The Bulldogs have not only won four of the past five games, but they’re 5-0 ATS in the past five games. In addition, Alabama A&M has won eight in a row in the series, while covering three straight, with a 6-2 ATS mark during the series win streak. Back Alabama A&M at home, and feel confident in doing so.

Bets: Alabama A&M -2.5 (-120)
