College Football Anytime Touchdown Scorers: JLab Birmingham Bowl

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Jaquari Lewis (RB – App State) | +110 / Rashod Dubinion (RB – App State) | -120

Jaquari Lewis made up one half of a fairly solid backfield duo for the Mountaineers this year. Although he had 50 fewer carries than Rashod Dubinion, he actually found the end zone six times compared to Dubinion's four. Both running backs are capable of reaching the endzone, as both are used in the run and pass games, with 27 receptions each on the season.

Both Mountaineers quarterbacks, AJ Swann and JJ Kohl, are headed to the transfer portal. They may play, but it's unlikely, which would mean App State would be down to its third-string quarterback. Because of this, the Mountaineers will likely utilize the run game often against Georgia Southern, a team that ranked 124th in expected points added (EPA) in run defense on the season.

In the previous matchup with the Eagles, Lewis and Dubinion combined to run for five yards per attempt while Swann attempted 51 passes. Lewis found the end zone on his six touches, but being behind all game had App State in pass-heavy mode. With the success they had on the ground, we should see more of that in this game, which makes both running backs strong plays at plus-money.

Camden Brown (RB – Georgia Southern) | -340

Typically, it's not worth making this play with the serious juice, but when you get a chance to bet on the nation's receiving touchdown leader in his final college game, you don't want to miss that chance. Camden Brown, after transferring from Auburn, where he had just 26 catches and three touchdowns in three years, exploded this season for 63 receptions, 1,049 yards, and a nation's best 14 touchdowns. He has a chance to add to that total versus App State’s defense.

At 276 yards per game, the App State Mountaineers had the worst passing defense in the Sun Belt Conference. They allowed 21 touchdowns through the air, including a touchdown and 352 yards when these teams met back in November. With a starting safety and a starting cornerback headed to the transfer portal who may not play in this game, an already poor pass defense could be even worse. This is the perfect recipe for Brown to find the end zone, making this a strong play despite the short odds.
