Saturday’s Best College Football Anytime Touchdown Scorers (Week 2)

Arizona State Sun Devils at No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies
Against an Arizona State defense that is not good against the pass and lacks a strong pass rush, Marcel Reed will have plenty of time to survey the field and throw. Horton was his top target last week and should see enough targets to have a solid shot of getting back in the end zone this week.
Reed is a capable passer, but the Aggies’ offense is more concerned with establishing the run. To that end, Rueben Owens II is going to see the ball early and often once again, like last week. With the defense making life hard on a largely inexperienced Arizona State offense, the offense will have the time to be methodical and focus on the run game.
The Aggies do use a committee of running backs, but Owens is the top option. When they get within striking distance, Owens will get the first shot at the end zone - and he'll score.

No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners at Michigan Wolverines
Lloyd Avant got his Oklahoma career off to a nice start with 15 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown last week against UTEP. The game plan against Michigan will likely emphasize the run game more. Why? Because Western Michigan had some success last week and because it will help keep Bryce Underwood off the field.
As the Sooners’ No. 1 RB, if/when Oklahoma gets near the goal line, Avant will get a shot to punch it in.

No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes at No. 4 Texas Longhorns
Both teams are great; they are strong on offense and tough as nails on defense. In games like this, teams look to their superstars to make plays. For Ohio State, that superstar in question is Jeremiah Smith. Texas stopped Ohio State’s offense cold in the first half last year, but with a game under their belt, many of the kinks will be worked out.
This will be a low-scoring game, like last year, but playing a game before this one will benefit both teams. But the team with the superstars that make the most plays will get the win. For the Buckeyes, that means having Julian Sayin connect with Smith early and often, as he did last week.
