Miami (OH) vs. Appalachian State
One of the most suspect run defenses in the Sun Belt this year was Appalachian State. They allowed 177.5 rushing yards per game this season. In their last previous game for the Sun Belt Championship against Troy, the Mountaineers gave up 271 total yards on the ground. In addition to that, the Mountaineers allowed the 2nd most rushing touchdowns on the ground this year in the Sun Belt with 27 rushing touchdowns allowed.
Looking at Miami (OH), they can certainly run the football and much of that is behind their running back Rashad Amos. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 234 pounds, Amos runs well between the tackles and tends to shake off initial contact well. Prior to playing for the RedHawks, Amos played for South Carolina. However, he was buried on the depth chart and opted for Miami (OH). Earning his way to the lead back duties for their offense, Amos has 177 carries for 895 yards and 12 touchdowns this year.
In his last 10 games, Amos has scored in 9 of those games. With players opting-out and hitting the transfer portal, it's a safe bet to rely on Amos because if the RedHawks want any chance of beating Appalachian State in the Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl, they'll need to pound the rock with Amos.
