College Football First & Anytime TD Scorer Picks: Week 8 (2024)
Through the first seven weeks of the college football season, 21 teams have recorded 30+ touchdowns. Surprisingly, the touchdown leader is Indiana - yes, the Hoosiers. Not Ohio State, Texas, Miami or Alabama. That tells us we should look beyond the big dogs when betting on touchdown scorer props.
Here are some of our favorite touchdown scorer props for Week 8.

Week 8 Best College Football First & Anytime Touchdown Scorer Picks
(Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook)
Here are some of my top anytime touchdown scorer picks (first touchdown odds in parenthesis) for Week 8 of the college football season.
Nebraska vs. Indiana
- Ty Son Lawton, RB, Indiana +115 (+750)
- Justice Ellison, RB, Indiana +120 (+650)
- Elijah Sarratt, WR, Indiana +130 (+850)
- Dante Dowdell, RB, Nebraska +185 (+1000)
- Isaiah Neyor, WR, Nebraska +195 (+1300)
It is not unheard of for the Big Ten to be home to one of, if not the highest-scoring teams in the nation. But Ohio State is not that team this year. No, it’s the Indiana Hoosiers (No. 2, 47.5 points per game). Yes, that basketball school featured in that classic basketball movie starring Gene Hackman.
Indiana has recorded 23 rushing and 15 passing touchdowns this season. That number is a bit inflated due to soft opponents, but that’s true for every prolific scoring team. It will not be easy to put up points against Nebraska’s top-10-ranked scoring defense; they’ve allowed eight passing touchdowns but none on the ground.
But someone will need to score in this pivotal Big Ten matchup. Indiana will undoubtedly call on the team’s top three scoring threats. If anyone is going to score for the Hoosiers, it will probably be one of Ty Son Lawton, Justice Ellison or Elijah Sarratt. Possibly all three.
As for Dante Dowdell and Isaiah Neyor, Indiana is also one of the top defenses in the country, having given up four rushing and seven passing touchdowns. Nebraska has developed a good all-around offense. When it comes to scoring, it tends to come from Dowdell and Neyor first. Thus, making them good picks to score this weekend.
East Carolina vs. Army
- Bryson Daily, QB, Army -800 (+165)
- Bryson Daily to Score 3+ Touchdowns (+185)
- Kanye Udoh, RB, Army -150 (+550)
- Noah Short, RB, Army +140 (+950)
It is no secret as to how Army scores its points - in the running game. The Black Knights have the No. 1 rushing attack in the country with roughly 370 yards per game on the ground and 26 rushing touchdowns. East Carolina’s mediocre run defense will not hold Army out of the end zone for long (if at all).
Bryson Daily will score a touchdown; he has run one in five out of six games this season, with two scores in each and three or more in three. He also recorded the first touchdown twice. Kanye Udoh has seven touchdowns, with at least one in five out of six games. Noah Short has scored in four of Army’s six games and three of the last four.
He has also recorded the first touchdown three times this season.
Miami vs. Louisville
- Elijah Arroyo, TE, Miami +220 (+1500)
- Isaiah Horton, WR, Miami +165 (+1300)
- Ja’Corey Brooks, WR, Louisville +100 (+950)
- Ja’Corey Brooks to Score 2+ Touchdowns (+600)
Miami needs to win to keep up with the other undefeated teams in the ACC. Louisville needs to win to avoid falling too far back after already recording one in-conference loss. Both teams will certainly be motivated to bring their ‘A’ games.
For Miami, that means turning loose the country’s No. 1 passing (400 yards per game) and scoring offense (47.7 points per game). Louisville’s pass defense can best be described as mediocre. It may make a few big plays against the Hurricanes, but ultimately, it will not slow Cam Ward and company down for long.
The only downside to having such a prolific passing game is that you have several players with multiple touchdowns on the season but not a standout favorite (or obvious bet). Elijah Arroyo only has 14 catches on the season, but four of them have gone for touchdowns, including one in each of the last two games.
Isaiah Horton has been the go-to guy for Cameron Ward the last three weeks with 20 receptions (eight, three, nine) in those games, including a touchdown in each.
Louisville has a solid passing game that averages just under 300 yards per game. The Cardinals will probably need to pass a lot to keep up or catch up to Miami. Ja’Corey Brooks leads the way for the Cardinals receivers with six touchdowns this season. He has had at least one in four games and two in two of his last three.
