It is time to wrap up the college football regular season with one of the most intense rivalry games in all of sports-the annual Army vs. Navy game. Army vs. Navy: Best Bets
Under 38.5 Points (-112 at Caesars)
The total opened at 39.5 but has since shifted down to 38.5. Why? Because, historically, this is a very low-scoring game. Since 2006, the under has gone 16-2-1, but the under is 0-2-1 in the last three. Prior to last season's 31-13 Navy victory, the two teams had not combined for more than 38 points since the 2013 game (34-7, Navy).
As long as these two teams have top-five run defenses and next to no passing game, I have to believe we'll see a low-scoring contest.
Blake Horvath Over 105.5 Rushing Yards (-115 at bet365)
Army has a decent run defense, holding teams to 147.1 yards rushing a game (No. 63). Yet, last season, Army had the No. 16 run defense in the country, and Horvath carved them up for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Horvath ran for over this number in six straight games before getting held to 60 and 54 in his last two. He'll end his college career with another solid day against Army.
Army +6.5 (-110 at Fanatics)
You have to be cautious when picking a winner for this game. It is everything you want to see in a rivalry game. Records don't matter; how they played in their last game is of no consequence. Both teams figure out how to play their best game of the season every year in this contest.
So, just because Navy has the better record and is favored by 6.5 points, don't assume they'll get the job done. Last season was supposed to see Army's Bryson Daily ride off into the sunset with a big win over his rival for his final game. Instead, it was the Navy-Blake Horvath show.
Navy should win this game, and I'd even say they should cover. But I think Army will find a way to stick around and within reach. They will not lose by 7+ points.
Horvath leads Navy in touchdowns this season with 14 scored and at least one in eight of ten games. Of those eight games, he scored in the first half in four of them, but he scored in the second half in seven (and in both halves in three). Last season, he scored in both halves vs. Army.
