Wednesday’s Best College Football Picks & Predictions (Week 7)
Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook | All bets are for 1 unit
Kennesaw State Owls (-154) at Missouri State Bears (+128) | O/U 51.5 (-118/-104)
Kennesaw State (1-4) and Missouri State (1-4) are both looking to avoid slipping to 1-5 on the season. A victory on Wednesday keeps alive, at least the potential, for possible bowl eligibility, despite already having four losses before the leaves have fully turned color.
Kennesaw State lost a 27-26 heartbreaker last Wednesday on its home field, though it covered as a 2.5-point underdog, and the over (49.5) cashed. That was the first over of the season for the Owls, who had struggled to score against FBS opponents. It is still averaging 16.5 points per game (PPG) in the past four games, while allowing 27+ points in three of the past four outings against FBS opponents.
Missouri State was worked over by Western Kentucky last week, 34-13, failing to cover at home as a 1.5-point favorite, as the under (56.5) cashed. It was the first time in four games that Missouri State failed to score 24 points. It has allowed 30+ points in each of the past three games, and all four games against FBS opponents this season.
Let’s back Missouri State straight up as underdogs on its home field, as the atmosphere in Springfield should be hype for a nationally televised game and a rare moment of attention for the university. We’ll also back the over, as we could get a surprising number of points.
Picks: Missouri State Moneyline (+128) & Over 51.5 Points (-118)
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (-118) at Sam Houston State Bearkats (-102) | O/U 52.5 (-110/-110)
Western Kentucky (2-4) and Sam Houston State (1-4) meet in the great state of Texas at 8:00 p.m. ET, as ESPN comes to town. These teams have met three times since joining Conference USA. The Hilltoppers have won all three meetings, while covering the past two in the series. The under has a 2-1 edge in the three meetings.
Western spanked Missouri State 34-13 last week in Bowling Green, covering as a 1.5-point underdog. The Hilltoppers are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in the past four games, while the under has cashed in two in a row and three of the past four outings.
Sam Houston State was manhandled by Liberty last time out on Thursday, falling 35-3, and it didn’t come close to covering as 13.5-point underdogs. The under (53.5) cashed. The team’s only victory this season was a 59-0 win over Nicholls of the FCS. The past two losses at Texas Tech and at Liberty have come by 32+ points.
Western Kentucky has dominated this season, and we’ll back them to get the job done on the road. Lay a few points rather than paying up on the Moneyline. And let’s go low on the total, as the under is 3-1 in four games against FBS opponents for Western Kentucky, while the under is also on a 3-1 run for Sam Houston State.
Picks: Western Kentucky -1.5 (-108) & Under 52.5 Points (-110)
