JLab Birmingham Bowl Player Props: Georgia Southern vs. App State
JC French Over 277.5 Passing Yards (-114)
JC French threw for 352 yards when these two teams played on November 6th. App State had a pretty bad pass defense then. With the defense decimated by the transfer portal, it is unlikely that it will play better this time.
OJ Arnold Over 76.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
OJ Arnold missed the season finale with an injury but is listed as the starter for the game (so we're assuming he's healthy). In the previous game between these two teams, Arnold ran for 105 yards on 20 carries. With App State's defense getting gutted, he'll go over this total as long as he gets 15-20 carries.
Marcus Sanders Jr. Over 75.5 Receiving Yards (-114) & Camden Brown Over 92.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
Both Georgia Southern receivers had six receptions against App State last time out. Brown had 97 receiving yards; Marcus Sanders Jr. had 127 yards. A bad pass defense is not going to get magically better when it gets decimated by transfers/opt-outs. It would be surprising if both do not shine again today.
Rashod Dubinion Under 56.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
Rashod Dubinion ran for 40 yards on 12 carries in the November 6th game versus Georgia Southern, and has played an increasingly smaller role since. He'll get some touches because he's a senior, but the coaching staff would be smarter to feed Jaquari Lewis.
Jaquari Lewis Over 83.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
Jaquari Lewis will get the bulk of the carries and could see a significant number with App State losing its top two quarterbacks and resorting to an inexperienced freshman at quarterback. In his final two regular-season games, Lewis ran for 175 (33 carries) and 108 yards (22 carries).
The only thing that may keep Lewis from going over this mark is if Georgia Southern gets out to a big enough lead and the Mountaineers abandon the run.
Noah Gillon Under 185.5 Passing Yards (-114)
Noah Gillon is forced into the starting role with App State losing its QB1 and QB2 to the transfer portal. In limited action, the freshman was 13-of-32 for 111 yards. Georgia Southern gave up 348 yards last time out to App State. However, that was to AJ Swann (QB1), who fed Jaden Barnes (13 catches for 160 yards), who is not expected to play (injury).
App State will not let Gillon throw 51 times as Swann did and will probably focus more on the run to not put the game in Gillon's hands.
