Colorado's expectations were much lower coming in after their disappointing 2023 season. That might have helped take the pressure off because they were outstanding in their first season in the Big 12 and were in contention to play in the conference title game until the last week. 

That had to do with Shedeur Sanders, one of the best quarterbacks in the country with 3,926 passing yards and 35 touchdowns. It helped to have Travis Hunter catching passes. The Heisman Trophy winner had 1,152 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, solidifying this as one of the best tandems in the country.

Surprisingly, the two potential top-five draft picks have elected to play, but they have a hefty insurance policy taken out in case of a significant injury. This could deter them from playing all four quarters.

Their Big 12 counterpart was the conference standings leader for a long time, but BYU took some losses, leading them to miss the conference championship. They are a well-balanced team but look for their offense to be the most important factor in this game. Jake Retzlaff will have the ability to move the ball on the ground and air. The best news is that he will have all of his favorite offensive weapons for most of this game but he'll be without Darius Lassiter for the first half due to an altercation he had in their last game.

Colorado defensively will give up points and could struggle against a great offense. Although BYU had one of the better defenses in the conference, don't look for them to shut down the best offense in the Big 12.
