If LSU makes it far into the playoffs this year, they will look back at last week's game as a turning point, as they were down early on the road to South Carolina. The Gamecocks were moving the ball through the struggling defensive line, as well as putting pressure on Garrett Nussmeier and forcing the Tigers to make mistakes.
They scored a late touchdown in the first half and carried that momentum into the second half. Garrett Nussmeier looked like the quarterback we saw in the first two weeks. He's been a large reason they were competitive against USC and beat South Carolina.
UCLA hasn't looked great through the first two games, and last week was where we saw every weakness. They had two weeks to prepare for their home matchup against Indiana, and they went down 21-0 late in the second quarter and never recovered.
Quarterback Ethan Garbers is in his fourth season while running back T.J. Harden is in his third, and they are putting up their worst numbers. You might have to blame offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy, the guy who coached Patrick Mahomes to two Super Bowl wins.
Who knows what LSU's future is, but they should get a convincing win against the Bruins in Death Valley.
