Virginia Tech vs. Miami
- Leg 1: Miami -17.5 (-108)
- Leg 2: Cam Ward 3+Passing Touchdowns (-130)
- Leg 3: Damien Martinez 60+ (-115)
Miami has come out of nowhere and is looking like a primary team early on. They haven't faced great competition, but they have pulverized each of them and have a +40.3 point differential, fifth in the nation.
Miami brought in Washington State transfer Cam Ward, who looks like a top-tier quarterback. He leads the country with 14 touchdowns, only has two interceptions, and his 72.5 completion percentage is ranked third (min.120 pass attempts).
They finally look like they have a complete defense. They were in the top 30 last year against the run and are sixth this season (64.8), but they've been great against the pass by allowing one touchdown and 168 passing yards per game (35th).
That could hold well against the Hokies who have struggled to move the ball in the air. Kyron Drones has not stepped up as a passer and is averaging just 137.6 passing yards over his last three games and has already tied last year's interception total (3). They need to be able to move the ball in both facets to keep up with this high-velocity Miami offense.
