Saturday's Best MLB Player Prop Bets: Cubs vs. Mets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Tylor Megill Under 5.5 strikeouts (-110)
Tylor Megill leads all Mets starting pitchers with 45 strikeouts and an 11.3 K/9 rate. He has also been a workhorse, averaging the second-most pitches per start (90.1). However, his 0.5 WAR is tied for the lowest of any member of the rotation, his walk rate and hard-hit rate rank in the 39th percentile or lower among all qualified pitchers. That has his xERA more than a half-run higher than his actual ERA.
Megill faces a Cubs lineup that entered the weekend in the top 10 for lowest strikeout rate (20.3%). And even though they strike out at a slightly higher rate (21.2%), their top-three NL rankings in wOBA and wRC+ lower Megill’s ceilings for strikeouts considering he has a greater chance of being knocked out of the game early.
