Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals opened as a 5.5-point favorite against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home. However, the Bengals barely escaped the Cleveland Browns, 17-16, thanks to a couple of missed Cleveland field goals. Now, bettors aren’t feeling too good about the Bengals moving forward.
The line has dropped to 3.5 in favor of the Bengals. Ultimately, the Jaguars are 7-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight games on field turf. They’re also 4-1 ATS in their previous five games following a straight-up win of more than 14 points. The Jaguars earned a 26-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 and looked very good.
Ultimately, Joe Burrow passed for only 113 yards against the Browns. Chase Brown finished with 21 carries and only rushed for 43 yards. The offense wasn’t nearly as good as Cincinnati bettors and fans had hoped.
Meanwhile, Trevor Lawrence wasn’t elite at throwing the ball, either. He completed only 19-of-31 passes. However, Travis Etienne broke out a big run, which led to him gaining 143 yards on the ground on 16 carries. Nobody would be surprised if the Bengals give up more explosive plays to the Jaguars this week. The Bengals got back Trey Hendrickson, but the defense got lucky a few times with dropped passes and missed field goals by the Browns. That won’t happen with the Jaguars.
Let’s bet on the Jaguars.
Pick: Jaguars +3.5 (-120)
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
The New York Giants wouldn’t commit to Russell Wilson for the second game of the season. That’s how bad they performed in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders.
Wilson completed 17-of-37 passes and was pressured all day long. He also led the team in rushing yards, which was not ideal in New York’s 21-6 loss on the road.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys showed some fight against the Philadelphia Eagles on opening night. The Cowboys lost, 24-20, but were in the game. While Dallas didn’t win, the Cowboys won against the spread. They’re now 6-1 ATS in their last seven games versus the NFC.
Meanwhile, the Giants are currently 0-6 ATS in their last six road games.
New York’s defense has some potential. But the offense, especially the offensive line, didn’t look up to par. New York never established the run game, and the passing game was just as ineffective.
It’s a rivalry game, but I’d be shocked if the Cowboys didn’t win by at least a touchdown. New York fans will be calling for Jaxson Dart after another bad performance in Week 2.
Pick: Cowboys -3.5 (+100)
