French Open 2022: Ons Jabeur Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction

History was made on the Men’s side at the Australian Open earlier this season, as Rafael Nadal defeated Daniil Medvedev for his 21st Grand Slam title. That broke a three-way tie that he was previously a part of with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who each have won 20 career Grand Slams.

The second major of the tennis season is the French Open at Roland Garros, which will run from May 22nd to June 5th. The clay surface is difficult for even the best of players to adapt to, as evidenced by the fact that just three of Federer’s and Djokovic’s combined 40 Grand Slam titles have been won at Roland Garros. Even Pete Sampras, who ranks fourth on the all-time list of Grand Slam champions, never won a French Open title.

This is the first annual BettingPros Guide to the French Open, where we will highlight several of the top contenders from both the Men’s and Women’s Draws.

Is Rafael Nadal a shoo-in for his 14th French Open title, which would be five more than any other player won at any Grand Slam event? Will we have our ninth different women’s champion in the last nine years? Or can Barbora Krejcikova become the first repeat champion since Justine Henin’s three-peat from 2005-07?

Read on for our thoughts and predictions for Ons Jabeur in the 2022 French Open.

Ons Jabeur French Open History

Jabeur has made consecutive appearances in the Round of 16 at the French Open and is 8-4 in 12 career matches at Roland Garros. Jabeur failed to qualify for the main draw in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2018 and was absent from the tournament in 2013 and 2016. However, she advanced to the third round in 2017 and was beaten in her opening-round match in 2019 after earning a tough draw against No. 31 seed Petra Martic.

The highlight of Jabeur’s French Open run in 2020 was beating No. 8 seed Aryna Sabalenka in three sets in the third round and did not defeat any seeded players in last year’s run before losing to No. 24 seed Coco Gauff in straight sets.

Ons Jabeur Recent Form

Jabeur might be walking into Roland Garros on the heels of consecutive tour titles if she faced any other opponent in the previous tournament. However, there is no shame in losing in straight sets in Rome to Iga Swiatek, who has completely dominated women’s tennis of late.

Jabeur’s finals appearance at Rome lifted her to a career-high No. 6 world ranking. She has won two singles titles on the WTA Tour and an additional 11 singles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit.

Ons Jabeur French Open Predictions

The Pick: Ons Jabeur to Reach the Final (+350 via FanDuel)

Jabeur showed tremendous resolve in Rome, coming back to defeat No. 4 Maria Sakkari in the quarterfinals after trailing 6-1, 5-2. In addition, she fended off a match point in her eventual semifinal win over Daria Kasatkina. That big-point experience will pay huge dividends as she advances deeper into this tournament.

Jabeur leads the women’s tour with 17 wins and is the only player to make three finals in clay-court tournaments this season. She got a good draw with Maria Sakkari (+600 to win the quarter) as her biggest challenger, but her 11-match win streak in Madrid and Rome cannot be ignored.
