Georgia Bulldogs vs Alabama Crimson Tide National Championship Odds & Game Pick (2022)

We’ve made it to the finale of college football. The Georgia Bulldogs will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff on Monday, January 10th, in what is the rematch of the SEC Championship game, played not too long ago.

The Georgia Bulldogs dominated the competition until it had to face the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the SEC Championship game, Alabama defeated Georgia, 41-24, handing Georgia its first loss of the season.

No team had scored more than 17 points against Georgia this season, but Alabama scored 41. Can the Crimson Tide pull off another incredible offensive game plan against Georgia the second time around? Here are our picks and predictions for the College Football Playoff Finals between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Overview

The Georgia Bulldogs might’ve lost that SEC Championship game, but oddsmakers still believe Georgia is the better team. The Bulldogs held opponents to just 9.5 points per game while scoring 39 points per game. Georgia ultimately dominated defensively this season by giving up just 252.9 yards per game on the defensive end. And that’s primarily against SEC competition.

The Bulldogs knocked Michigan off with an easy 34-11 win and made Michigan’s offense and defense look foolish.

Georgia is still rolling with quarterback Stetson Bennett, who has put together a solid year. He has 27 touchdowns thrown with just seven interceptions. Although undersized, he’s able to get around in the pocket and convert with his legs if needed.

But really, Georgia is known for its defense, and that’s what has made them dominant all year long. With that defense, Alabama gained over 500 yards of offense in the SEC Championship game. So you have to wonder if Georgia is really capable of getting stops here.

On the other hand, Alabama’s got the Heisman winning quarterback in Bryce Young. He threw for 46 touchdowns and just five interceptions all year. He’s also met in the backfield with Brian Robinson Jr., who rushed for 5.1 yards per carry and 14 touchdowns on 249 attempts.

Alabama didn’t really impress against Cincinnati, but the score was still 27-6 as the Crimson Tide didn’t allow a single touchdown in that game.

So now, with Alabama’s defense doing some talking, this game could get interesting. Overall, I think we’ll see points in this game between two offenses that average about 80 points combined and close to 1000 yards per game.

Trends

  • Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
  • Over is 6-1-1 in Crimson Tide last eight games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.
  • Over is 4-0-1 in Crimson Tide last five Bowl Championship games.

Bottom Line

I’d hate to pick a winner in this game. I believe Georgia will keep it closer in this game. But I don’t believe that the Georgia defense will hold Alabama to under 10 points like they’ve done to most teams this year.

Both teams are capable of scoring a whole lot of points. Georgia had no problem beating a very good Michigan team on offense, and Alabama has clearly been one of the best offenses in the nation this year.

So, therefore, I’ll grab the over 52 in this matchup and get excited over all the points scored!

Pick: Over 52 (-110)
