Georgia Bulldogs vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Odds & Game Pick (2021)

Although it’s rivalry week, this game will have absolutely no appeal to the regular college football audience. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will welcome the number one team in the nation, the Georgia Bulldogs, to town for a “rivalry” game in Atlanta, GA.

In 2019, Georgia beat Georgia Tech 52-7 and the year before that, Georgia defeated Georgia Tech 45-21. Prior to that year, Georgia dominated with a 38-7 win. So you get the point, rivalries only exist when teams trade wins and losses.

With the Yellow Jackets losing five straight and their most recent game to Notre Dame, 55-0, there’s a good chance Georgia Tech is going to lose this football game. But everyone knows that. What we want to figure out is by how many points? Here are our picks and predictions for Georgia vs Georgia Tech.

Overview

Earlier this month, Georgia Tech looked like a football team. The Yellow Jackets held games tight with an eight-point loss to Virginia, a nine-point loss to Virginia Tech and a three-point loss to Miami. However, it looks like those three games kind of fatigued the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech lost their next two games by double digits and most recently got creamed by Notre Dame, 55-0. If Notre Dame was able to win 55-0, what could Georgia end up doing on Saturday?

The Yellow Jackets are allowing 32.5 points per game and giving up 453.5 yards per game on the defensive end. There’s nothing to rave about with this defense, although the pass rush has stepped up plenty of times this season. Against Georgia, you can’t expect that.

Georgia has one of the better offensive lines in all of college football and have scored 40.3 points per game while allowing just 7.5 points per game. If Georgia were to shutout the Yellow Jackets, they’d finish the regular season allowing an average of approximately one touchdown per game through 12 games. That’s just absurd. Georgia has been one of the best college football defenses we’ve ever seen. The defense is elite in every single area and have been just as elite in special teams as well.

Behind quarterback Stetson Bennett, the offense is rolling. The senior hasn’t been the best but has made plays when the Bulldogs have needed him the most. If Georgia had a legitimate quarterback like a college Joe Burrow, we’d be talking about this Georgia team as being the best ever.

Trends

  • Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.
  • Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Yellow Jackets are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game.

Bottom Line

Georgia Tech is finished. The effort is there but the stamina isn’t. The Yellow Jackets just can’t compete anymore and now have to face Georgia literally after losing to Notre Dame, 55-0. The line for this game opened with Georgia being 33.5 point favorites and sharps have already pushed the line up to 35. Georgia might start off slow on the road but by the second half, the Bulldogs will roll offensively and likely shutout the Yellow Jackets on the defensive end.

I usually never recommend such high spread but Georgia warrants it. Take the -35 and watch Georgia cover this spread by multiple touchdowns beyond the 35.

Pick: Georgia -35 (-110)
