Gonzaga vs. Grand Canyon: NCAA Tournament Same Game Parlay Picks (3/17)

There aren’t many who are giving the Grand Canyon Lopes a chance in this game. The biggest storyline heading into this one isn’t whether or not they will be able to be the Gonzaga Bulldogs, but whether or not they will have uniforms after the airline forgot to put them on the charter. With a game that seems like such a mismatch on paper, and a team that is pretty much being disregarded by everyone, how do you create a parlay out of the lines between these two teams?

Here is the best Gonzaga vs. Grand Canyon same game parlay for Friday, March 17th.

Gonzaga vs. Grand Canyon

Gonzaga Over 87.5 Points (+120)

The high-powered Bulldogs’ offense has been discussed plenty heading into this tournament. They lead the country with 86.5 points per game. It doesn’t matter who they play, they just about always put up a big number. That won’t change Friday night.

The reason we are sticking with the Over at 87.5 points is that 88 has really been the sweet spot for the Zags this season. They have hit that exact number in five games this season, and including those five, they have hit or gone over that number 17 times. There is nothing that suggests the Lopes will be able to stop them from hitting that total.

Chance McMillian 2+ Three-Pointers (-120)

McMillian is shooting an outstanding 44.6% from deep this season. Though he has only attempted 130 three-pointers,  he is going to be key to the Lopes having any chance of pulling off the upset in this game.

When the Lopes needed him most in their 78-75 WAC semifinal win over Sam Houston State, McMillian was 5-9 from long range. He won’t put up that many shots, but he will have enough opportunities to at least make two. And the Zags are not known for their defense this season, so there will be plenty of lapses that lead to McMillian being wide-open.

Julian Strawther 18+ Points (+160)

After what we saw on Thursday, we don’t love Drew Timme’s total in this game. We saw blowout situations where star players were asked to do nothing, and therefore, they didn’t. This happened with both Ryan Filipowski and Brandon Miller. If this game goes the way we think it will, then Timme may not have to do that much.

But someone has to score the points for this team, so we’re going with the team’s second-leading scorer Julian Strawther to have 18 or more for a fair price. Strawther hasn’t hit this number in his last five games, but he has exploded for big performances throughout the season. There was a stretch in February where he scored 20 or more in three straight. Against the Lopes, he should be one of the featured scorers in this game.
