What is a UFC Method of Victory Bet?

While moneyline and total round bets are common across many sports, the UFC method of victory bet is unique to the sport. Just as you would assume from the title, the UFC method of victory bet comes down to how a fighter wins a particular fight.

For each fight, there are three options: KO/TKO, submission, and decision/points. To win this bet, you are not betting on a particular fighter but instead on how the fight will end. For example, in the upcoming Israel Adesyana vs. Jared Cannonier, if you bet the UFC method of victory – KO/TKO, either fighter can win in any round, and as long as it is by KO/TKO, you win your bet.

Strategy for Making UFC Method of Victory Bets

The most straightforward way many bettors look at betting on the UFC method of victory markets is by looking at fighters’ bet history and what percentage of their fights have gone by submission, KO/TKO, and decision. Another, more advanced way is looking at key fight metrics that the UFC offers for each fighter.

When determining whether to bet UFC method of victory – KO/TKO, significant strikes landed per 15 minutes, and significant strikes accuracy are two metrics I often check on when comparing two fighters. For the UFC method of victory – submission, average takedowns per 15 minutes, takedown accuracy, and submission average per 15 minutes are the three most critical.

Regardless, looking at two fighter’s metrics and how they compare to one another when combined with fight histories can make the difference between winning and losing UFC method of victory bet.

It is also worth noting whether the fight is a three or five-round affair, as betting on a decision will be often more likely if a fight is just three rounds. As a reminder, all non-main event and championship bouts (five rounds) will be three rounds.
