Overview

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a rough season. They are 2-14, and the internal problems within the organization have been substantial. Urban Meyer was fired halfway through the season, and Darrell Bevell replaced him. Bevell is the same coach called the controversial 2015 Super Bowl slant play. The Jaguars are 0-3 since Bevell took over, and in the time they played the Jets and Texans, which have been two of the worst teams in the NFL. In those three games, they have lost by an average of 20 points per game. The offense averages 14 points per game, and defensively the Jaguars are giving up 28 points per game. This Jaguars team is struggling top to bottom.

The Colts have an opportunity to make the playoffs in this game. That means starters will play, and the Colts will try to get ahead quickly because they want to get some starters to rest before the playoffs. Offensively, the Colts are firing on all cylinders. They are averaging 28 points per game and 365 total yards. Jonathan Taylor has been one of the best running backs in the league, and the offense has just gotten better throughout the year too. In the last eight games, they are averaging 30 points per game. Defensively, they rank #12 in the NFL and allow 21 points per game. The Colts control their destiny in this game and have the tools to make the playoff.

Bottom Line

The Jaguars are too much of a mess right now to bet on them. Jacksonville has nothing to play for besides a better draft pick. The Jaguars will be limiting minutes and may even have players sitting out. The Colts will be playing everyone they can to try and get ahead early. The last time these two teams played, the Colts won 23-17, but this game determines the playoffs for the Colts. The line has moved in favor of the Colts, but the Jaguars can’t be trusted to cover 15 points. Bevell has lost by 20 points per game since he became the coach. This football game is a good game for bettors to tease the line down and take the betting value on the Colts.
