(3) Kansas State vs. (6) Kentucky
Leg 1 â Kansas State +2.5 (-105)
The Kentucky Wildcats are sleepers to make the Final Four for many analysts. The season didnât go as planned for Kentucky. But once the NCAA Tournament begins, every team has a new slate.
The Kentucky Wildcats have been tremendous offensively, scoring 35.2% from three and 50% from inside the arc. Kentucky could be better from inside the arc. However, the Kentucky Wildcats still earn 38.9% of offensive rebounds. Thatâs helped them add second chances and score more points. Kentucky also gets to the foul line at an above-average rate, and with Kansas State fouling at a high rate, Kentucky can do damage at the foul line. Kentucky shoots just 70.4% from the foul line, though.
On the other hand, Kansas State has nailed almost 34% from three, 52.4% from two, and 75% from the foul line. The offense wonât earn as many second chances but typically gets to the line more than Kentucky. Kansas State turns the ball over 20% of the time, but Kentucky isnât going to earn a high rate of turnovers anyway. If Kansas State can limit turnovers and continue to get good looks inside, the Kansas State Wildcats should be able to at least cover in todayâs game.
Leg 2 â Over 144.5 (-105)
Kentuckyâs offense isnât amazing. But the second chances and potential points at the foul line should help Kentucky put up plenty of points in todayâs game. Kansas State is weak on the defensive glass and also fouls at a very high rate. Kansas State has done well defending the three, but Kentucky doesnât take a ton of threes, to begin with. Kentucky will get better looks from the field inside the arc.
On the other hand, Kentucky isnât nearly as good on defense. Kentucky will do a better job keeping Kansas State off the offensive glass, but youâd figure that Kansas State shoots a higher percentage from the field in this game. Therefore, Iâll back the Over 144.5.
Leg 3 â Keyontae Johnson Over 16.5 Points (-122)
Johnson leads Kansas State with 17.7 points per game this season. His line is sitting at 16.5 points. I like this game to go over. So typically, the best players will do their jobs.
Johnson is a senior leader for the Kansas State Wildcats. Heâs shooting 51.9% from the field this season. In Kansas Stateâs first game of the Tournament, Johnson added 18 points on 8-for-15 from the floor. Heâs also had many recent games with 24 or more points.
