  • Current Line: O/U: 52 | BAL -2.5

Overview:

Baltimore enters this matchup fresh off a Monday Night Football victory, at one point finding themselves down 22-3 in the third quarter. However, Lamar Jackson remains otherworldly after leading his team back, going 37-43 for 442 yards and four touchdowns.

Los Angeles found itself in a similar position. Early in the third quarter, they found themselves down 27-13 before Justin Herbert and Mike Williams went nuclear. Herbert continues his torrid play, throwing for 398 yards and four scores, while Williams caught eight passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

Below we’ll compare how these two team’s matchups metrically:

Both these quarterbacks are Top-5 in passing yards this season. The Chargers certainly have the advantage in the run game, as Austin Ekeler has been a sensational dual threat out of the backfield. Baltimore pieces together their run game, but they don’t need a traditional bell cow with Jackson's legs.

Trends:

• Underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings
• Road team is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings
• Ravens are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games

Bottom Line

The Chargers rank 29th in run defense, according to PFF. I’m expecting the Ravens to implement a heavy dose of Latavius Murray, Ty’Son Williams, and designed runs for Lamar to control possession at home and keep the ball out of Herbert’s hands. Additionally, the Ravens will struggle to pass against Brandon Staley’s defense, committing them to the run game. It will be tough to contain Herbert and this LA offense, but if Baltimore can establish the run and limit their possessions, I’ll back the home team.

Pick: Ravens -2.5
