Miami Dolphins vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Odds & Game Pick (2021)

The season might officially start for Tom Brady and the Buccaneers now that they got their two toughest tests out of the way, back-to-back weeks at the NFC leading Rams and then a homecoming in New England; which they escaped with a push (1-1). Now they head home to take a flailing Dolphins team with more questions than answers.

Let’s take a closer look at this matchup of Sunshine state teams.

Overview

Brady’s struggles last week in New England might quickly be forgotten as he now gets a Dolphins team at home that he saw for 20 years in the AFC East with the Patriots. Completing just 50% of his passes for 269 yards on Sunday night, Brady comes into this one with his full arsenal of weapons back on the field as TE Rob Gronkowski is expected to return from a rib injury.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bucs continue to play well up front, as their 47.5 rushing yards allowed per game ranks #1 in the league.

For the Dolphins, another poor start and injury to their second-year QB Tua Tagovailoa (ribs) has seen veteran journeyman Jacoby Brissett inserted into the starting lineup. Most recently falling to Brissett’s former team, the Colts, on Sunday at home, the Dolphins now sit at 1-3 as the schedule just gets tougher for the squad.

Heading into Sunday, Miami ranks 31st in the league in scoring offense (15.5 points per game), and total offense (252 yards), as they visit a Bucs team who boasts one of the best defenses in the league.

  • Buccaneers 5-0 ATS in L5 vs. Dolphins

Bottom Line

The Bucs glaring hole, the secondary, won’t face much of a test in this one as the league is more than familiar with Brissett and his weaknesses at this point in his career. In their own secondary, they’ll likely be without cornerback Bryon Jones who is dealing with a quadriceps/Achilles injury this week.

Another week in the system for former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman also spells trouble for Brissett.

All in all, it’s tough to see a scenario the Bucs don’t roll in this one.
