Now tonight, we’ve got the actual All-Star Game between the National League and American League. The American League has won 20 of the last 24 games, but oddsmakers still like National League slightly more than the American League.
Which side should you be on? Here are our picks and predictions for tonight’s MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

Which Lineup has More Power?
Even with Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge on the American League side, the National League still has more power coming into this game.
Seven players on the National League side have hit at least 20 home runs in the first half of the season, and they’ll get to take on a pitching staff that just seems hittable on paper.
With the projected total sitting at 7.5, if the National League hits a couple of home runs, that could be enough to get the win. The pitching staff for the National League looks much better as well.
Meanwhile, the American League has six players that have hit 20 or more home runs, so they’re not lacking either. However, the American League’s roster looks more strikeout prone, which could be an issue with the National League having more strikeout throwers. Power doesn’t matter if you can’t hit the ball!
Who has the Pitching Advantage?
The American League will send out Shane McClanahan for tonight’s game. He’s been unhittable all season and should have the same results today. But as the game continues, the National League looks to have more depth with their bullpen.
Sandy Alcantara has a 1.76 ERA and won’t even be starting. Meanwhile, Tony Gonsolin also has a 2.02 ERA and won’t be starting. Both of these starters have been tremendous and could see some action early in this game.
On the other hand, after Shane McClanahan for the American League, no starter has an ERA below 2.25. Alek Manoah has a 2.28 ERA, and, of course, Ohtani has a 2.38 ERA on the season.
But let’s take it up a notch. The relief pitching also favors the National League side. The National League has insane strikeout throwers like Edwin Diaz and Devin Williams and has Ryan Helsley, who has a .69 ERA on the entire season.
Meanwhile, the American League has pitchers that have had their blow-up moments this season, between Liam Hendriks, Gregory Soto, and even Clay Holmes, who had that one bad performance against the Reds.
Either way, the National League has more potential in tonight’s game. I’ll ride with them.
