Top 3 MLB Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (10/2)

The Atlanta Braves have taken the first two games from the Mets in the weekend series. Meanwhile, the Phillies split a doubleheader against the Nationals, and the Brewers found a way to lose to the Marlins last night.

October baseball is in full swing. Even in must-win games, teams don’t win. As bettors, we have to start accepting reality.

I’ve got three plays for today’s slate in the MLB, but I’m ready to play other games than the Phillies, Brewers, and Mets.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs

The Cincinnati Reds will send out Chase Anderson for today’s game. Anderson has walked 11.5% of batters in the last 30 days but has a BABIP of .178.

The Cubs aren’t very patient at the plate, but if the Cubs don’t get anything good to hit, Anderson will walk batters on base. Chicago has potential with Willson Contreras, Nico Hoerner, and Cristopher Morel. They’ve all hit righties with power in the last 30 days.

Meanwhile, Marcus Stroman will take the mound for the Cubs. Like Anderson, the right-hander has a 4.10 xFIP but is earning high-ground balls and keeping line drives down. However, Stroman is taking on a much worse lineup. The Reds have a .228 wOBA against righties over the last 30 days with their projected lineup.

I’ll trust Stroman in his final start of the season.

Bet: Cubs (-175 at DraftKings

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels

Tucker Davidson will get the call for the Angels. He’s a lefty with a 5.86 xFIP in the last 30 days. Davidson has struck out just 15% of batters and rarely induces ground balls on the mound.

He’s pitching against a Texas lineup with five batters hitting a wOBA of at least .360 against lefties. Meanwhile, Tyson Miller will take the hill for the Rangers. He’s 1-1 with an 8.10 ERA on the season. The right-hander has faced 14 batters in the last month, but his ERA tells us everything we need to know.

Los Angeles hasn’t been the hottest team against righties in the last month, but they’ll contribute to the over in this one.

Bet: Over 9 (+100 at DraftKings)

Chicago White Sox vs. San Diego Padres

The White Sox are out of the playoff picture. However, Lance Lynn has pitched very well over the last couple of months for the White Sox. He’ll get his final start of the season today. Lynn has walked just 3.8% of batters in the last 30 days, with 21.2% of strikeouts. He’s held ISO numbers down against both sides and will take on a Padres lineup with a .303 wOBA in the last 30 days against righties.

On the other hand, Blake Snell is holding a 3.02 xFIP in the last month. The lefty has also struck out 36.6% of batters in the last 30 days.

The White Sox will have an all-right-handed lineup and have hit a .229 ISO with a wOBA of .356 in the last month. However, Chicago has also hit under 15% of line drives against lefties with just 4.5% of walks. Those power and on-base numbers will start to decrease against one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Let’s take the Under 7.
