Sunday's Best MLB No Runs First Inning Picks
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
New York Mets (-142) vs. Washington Nationals (+120) | O/U 8.0 (-115/-105)
Starting Pitchers: Tylor Megill vs. Mitchell Parker
The Mets (19-8) earned a 2-0 victory on Saturday, making it eight wins in their last nine contests. They'll try to keep things rolling in the nation's capital when they send Tylor Megill to the bump. The Nationals (12-15) counter with Mitchell Parker in this divisional clash, which gets underway at 1:35 p.m. ET from Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
New York has been the second-best NRFI team this season, going 18-9 (67%) to the prop bet. They're riding a three-game NRFI streak heading into Sunday. With this sneakily thrilling pitching matchup, I think they'll make it four straight.
Megill has been lights out this year, going 3-2 with a 1.09 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. He's coming off a 5.1-inning shutout performance against the Phillies. He's now conceded zero earned runs in three of his last four starts (19.2 innings). As for Parker, he's been equally as dominant, going 3-1 with a 1.39 ERA (sixth) and a 0.93 WHIP (12th). The left-hander has allowed just one earned run in his last two starts (14 innings). Give me the NRFI in this National League East showdown.
Bet: NFRI (-120)
Game 1: Toronto Blue Jays (+154) vs. New York Yankees (-185) | O/U 8.0 (-118/-102)
Starting Pitchers: Kevin Gausman vs. Max Fried
The first of two games between the Blue Jays (13-13) and the Yankees (15-11) features a marquee pitching matchup between Kevin Gausman and Max Fried. Game 1 is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, NY.
Fried has been on fire, posting a 1.42 ERA (seventh) and a 1.01 WHIP (22nd) in five starts this year. He just blanked the Rays over 7.2 innings, and he's conceded only two earned runs in his last three starts (21.1 innings).
As for Gausman, he's been a Yankee-stopper in his career, limiting their current roster to a slash line of .235/.331/.444 over 153 at-bats. Aaron Judge has destroyed him (13-for-39, six home runs), but the right-hander has good head-to-head numbers against both Ben Rice (0-for-2) and Trent Grisham (4-for-18), who are at the top of the lineup. If he can navigate around Aaron Judge, this NRFI bet will be in great shape.
Bet: NRFI (-120-120)
Milwaukee Brewers (-108) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (-112) | O/U 8.0 (-108/-112)
Starting Pitchers: Jose Quintana vs. Erick Fedde
Let's wrap things up in the Midwest, where the Cardinals (12-15) are looking to break out the brooms against the Brewers (13-15). Jose Quintana gets the nod for the Brew Crew, while the Red Birds counter with Erick Fedde. First pitch is set for 2:15 p.m. ET from Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO.
The Brewers have been the fifth-best NRFI team this year, cashing the prop at a 61% clip (17-11). It has hit in each of the opening games of this series. With Erick Fedde (3.33 ERA) taking the mound, that's a trend I expect to continue. The right-hander has been sharp, posting a 1.50 ERA in his last three starts (18 innings).
As for the bottom of the first, we'll have the red-hot Jose Quintana looking to bring us home. The left-hander has been brilliant in 2025, going 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. St. Louis' top hitters of Lars Nootbaar (1-for-3), Brendan Donovan (0-for-4), Willson Contreras (1-for-15) and Nolan Arenado (2-for-21) are a combined 4-for-43 (.093) against the southpaw. I'll play the NRFI in The Lou on Sunday afternoon.
