Sunday's Best MLB No Runs First Inning Picks

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Texas Rangers (-112) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (-108) | O/U 8.0 (-115/-106)

Starting Pitchers: Nathan Eovaldi vs. Jose Berrios

Let's get things started up north, where the Blue Jays (73-51) are looking to complete the sweep of the Rangers (61-63) and issue them their fifth straight defeat. Nathan Eovaldi heads to the bump for Texas, while Toronto counters with Jose Berrios. First pitch is scheduled for 1:37 p.m. ET from the Rogers Centre in Toronto, ON.

The biggest hindrance for the Rangers this season has been their offense, which is ranked 25th in runs per game (4.05). Texas is also just 22nd in runs per first inning, plating only 0.44 runs per first frame. This has led to the Rangers being the second-best NRFI team in the league, with an NRFI record of 72-52 (58%), where they rank behind only the Pirates (73-51, 59%).

As for their pitching, the Rangers will turn to Eovaldi. The right-hander has been superb in 2025, going 10-3 with a 1.71 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP. He'll take on a Blue Jays offense that's just 28th in first-inning scoring, averaging only 0.40 runs. Toronto has cashed the NRFI in four straight games, and that's a trend I expect to continue since Eovaldi is opposing them.

Bet: NRFI (-120)

Tampa Bay Rays (+134) vs. San Francisco Giants (-164) | O/U 7.5 (-114/-107)

Starting Pitchers: Ryan Pepiot vs. Logan Webb

The Rays (61-63) picked up their third consecutive victory last night, taking down the Giants (59-64) in a low-scoring 2-1 affair. The Interleague foes are back at it this afternoon, and we have a pitching matchup between Ryan Pepiot and Logan Webb. First pitch is slated for 4:05 p.m. ET from Oracle Park in San Francisco, CA.

Tampa Bay is running into Webb this afternoon, so I'm not expecting much offensive production out of them. The right-hander comes into this contest at 10-9, owning a 3.34 ERA (21st) and a 1.26 WHIP (32nd). His 168 strikeouts are the fifth-most in the Majors. It's worth mentioning that Webb's ERA drops to 3.01 at home.

As for the bottom of the first, I don't anticipate San Francisco scoring either. They've been horrendous over the last week, ranking 29th in wOBA (.239) and dead last in ISO (0.91). During their current seven-game losing streak, the Giants are averaging a measly 1.71 runs per game. With a pitcher of Pepiot's caliber (3.86 ERA), a pitcher-friendly park and the Giants' current offensive form, I love this NRFI at the price of -110

Bet: NRFI (-110)

San Diego Padres (+129) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (-157) | O/U 8.0 (-117/-104)

Starting Pitchers: Yu Darvish vs. Tyler Glasnow

The Dodgers (70-53) took care of the Padres (69-54) in a 6-0 contest yesterday, which in turn saw them regain the divisional lead over San Diego (one game back). Today's series finale pits Yu Darvish against Tyler Glasnow. This game gets underway at 4:10 p.m. ET from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, CA.

A -110 price for this NRFI feels pretty reasonable. The Padres have been an NRFI machine this season, ranking fifth overall in the Majors at 69-54 (56%). Darvish (5.61 ERA) hasn't been great this season, but he has owned the Dodgers throughout his career. Their current roster is slashing just .196/.268/.361 against him over 194 at-bats.

Meanwhile, the Padres haven't found much success against Glasnow in the past. They're slashing .128/.171/.205 against him over 78 at-bats. Glasnow has been sharp this season with a 3.08 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. The Padres are averaging only one run per game this series, so look for Glasnow to stay hot and limit them for a third consecutive game. Give me the NRFI in L.A.

Bet: NRFI (-110)
