Sunday’s Best MLB Picks & Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Picks

The Houston Astros are set to pitch Colton Gordon, a left-handed pitcher, who has struggled against righties throughout the season. Gordon has allowed a .235 ISO and wOBA of .374 to his first 159 righties. Meanwhile, his last 88 righties have hit a .193 ISO and wOBA of .367. He’s induced just 29.6% of ground balls against righties in the previous 30 days and has struck out just 14.8% of righties during that same time.

Meanwhile, he’ll likely face a Dodgers lineup with seven righties in it. Those seven righties have struck out just 14.8% of the time against lefties over the last 30 days. They’ll get on base, and the Dodgers’ lineup has plenty of power potential.

On the other side, Emmet Sheehan looked good in his season debut last week. He struck out 40% of batters and allowed zero walks, while giving up a .067 ISO and wOBA of .203. Sheehan doesn’t have an easy matchup against the Astros, but he’s easily got more momentum than Gordon does heading into this game.

Sheehan earned 15.4% of swinging strikes in his first start and added 27% of whiffs. He also limited fly balls to 22.2%.

Therefore, I’ll ride with the Dodgers on the Moneyline at home.

Pick: Dodgers Moneyline (-172)

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Seattle Mariners MLB Picks

We’ve got a pitcher’s duel in Seattle.

Paul Skenes will take the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates, while George Kirby will go to battle for the Seattle Mariners.

Skenes has struck out 27.5% of batters over the last 30 days. He’s also limited his previous 109 batters to a .072 ISO and wOBA of .248. His walks are starting to creep up against lefties, but he’s facing a Seattle lineup that has six lefties who have collectively walked just 6.4% of the time. The Mariners’ projected lineup has hit just a .155 ISO and wOBA of .333. They’ll more than likely have a hard time against Skenes.

Conversely, Kirby has held his last 110 batters to a .152 ISO and wOBA of .251. He’s had some struggles with lefties in the previous 30 days. However, Kirby is set to face a Pittsburgh lineup with only three lefties. After all, those three lefties have struck out more than 26% of the time over the last 30 days. As a projected lineup, the Pirates have hit a .144 ISO and wOBA of .321 with 22.5% of strikeouts and only 6.3% of walks against righties in the last 30 days.

Again, Kirby is set to face six righties in the Pittsburgh lineup. Kirby has added 32.7% of strikeouts against his last 52 righties and has allowed just 1.9% of walks. He’s held righties to a .078 ISO and wOBA of .164 with nearly 12% swinging strikes.

This should be a fun pitching matchup. Therefore, let’s ride with the under.

Pick: Under 6.5 Runs (-110)
