Cincinnati Reds vs. Athletics

The Cincinnati Reds are set to send Nick Lodolo to the mound tonight. The left-hander has limited his last 38 batters to a .028 ISO and wOBA of .211. He’s also added 57.1% of ground balls and has walked only 2.6% of batters over that span.

Meanwhile, he’ll face an Athletics lineup that has five batters hitting an ISO of no better than .143. In addition, six of the nine batters have hit a wOBA of no better than .301. There’s a lack of consistency with this offense against lefties.

On the other hand, Luis Morales will start for the Athletics. The right-hander has allowed just a .144 ISO and wOBA of .262 over the last month. Yet, he’s still allowed nearly 28% of fly balls, 26.3% of line drives and has induced a ground ball rate below 33%. If this continues, Morales will eventually feel it. He’s struggled more against righties in the last month and will take on a Reds lineup that has six righties in the projected lineup.

Those six righties have hit a .190 ISO and wOBA of .320 against righties over the last 30 days. That checks out. Back the Reds on the Moneyline.

Pick: Reds Moneyline (-108)

New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

There’s plenty of excitement in this Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. Garrett Crochet, another lefty, will take the mound for the Red Sox. He’s struck out over 31% of batters over the last month. However, he has also allowed a .256 ISO and a wOBA of .342 against his last 95 right-handed batters. Those righties have hit over 60% of hard contact and a 9.5% barrel rate.

New York’s right-handed hitters have slugged a .244 ISO and wOBA of .352 over the last 30 days. As a projected lineup, the Yankees have hit a .279 ISO and wOBA of .400 against lefties over the previous month. The Yankees can certainly tag Crochet tonight.

On the flip side, it’ll be Will Warren pitching for the Yankees. Warren is a righty who has been awful against other righties over the last month. He’s also struggled against lefties throughout the entire season.

Boston hasn’t been the most consistent offense against righties lately. Yet, the team still has four batters who have hit an ISO of at least .191 and a wOBA of .343. That should help Boston get on the board often.

Let’s ride the over.
