Here are our top MLB picks for Sunday’s slate of baseball action.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Atlanta Braves
If the playoffs started today, the Atlanta Braves wouldn’t be in it.
But they’ll look to change that with Chris Sale on the bump. Sale has been the best pitcher in the National League. He’s already on his way to claim the National League Cy Young Award. With that said, Sale has held his last 129 batters to a .064 ISO and wOBA of .252 with 31.8% of strikeouts and just 3.1% of walks. He’s been doing this throughout the season and will now face a Blue Jays projected lineup that has earned just a .157 ISO and wOBA of .289 against lefties over the last 30 days.
Toronto’s lineup has also struck out 31.2% of the time against lefties in the last 30 days. Only Daulton Varsho and Leo Jimenez have added a high ISO and wOBA against lefties in that lineup.
On the other hand, the Blue Jays will pitch Yariel Rodriguez. Rodriguez has allowed a .234 ISO and wOBA of .374 to his last 105 batters. He’s also thrown an average of 68.5 pitches per appearance in the previous 30 days.
The Braves have been inconsistent hitting the baseball. But Jorge Soler, Marcell Ozuna, Matt Olson, and Luke Williams have all put up high-quality numbers over the last 30 days against righties. The lineup has also struck out fewer times than Toronto and has walked more.
Give me the Braves at -1.5. They’ll turn it on after falling out of the third Wild Card spot last night.

New York Yankees vs. Chicago Cubs
The Yankees will face their old friend, Jameson Taillon, and the Cubs today. Taillon, a right-handed pitcher, has allowed a .324 ISO and wOBA of .442 against his last 72 lefties. He’s also struck out 11.1% of lefties in the previous month.
While Taillon has been much better against righties, it still feels like it’s an advantage for the Yankees going up against Taillon. They already know a lot about Taillon, which could help them get ready for this game.
Meanwhile, New York’s lefties have hit a .253 ISO and wOBA of .380 over the last month. That’s been led by Juan Soto, but Austin Wells, Jazz Chisholm, and Anthony Rizzo have chipped in some power against righties over the last month.
Even Alex Verdugo should put the ball in play and potentially make something happen.
Meanwhile, the Yankees will roll with Gerrit Cole. Cole is a righty who has held his last 115 batters to a .087 ISO and wOBA of .259. He’s been phenomenal since his injury, and he’s settled in. He’ll want to limit hard contact against the Cubs but should be able to escape Chicago’s lineup as long as he limits walks.
