Tuesday’s Best MLB Picks & Predictions

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Seattle Mariners (-136) at Detroit Tigers (+112) | O/U 7.5 (-103/-118)

The Mariners and Tigers have been engaged in an exciting series, with both games being decided by a single run. The late drama has this series tied heading to the Motor City.

For Seattle, as long as the top of the lineup continues to hit, they can conquer Detroit’s pitching. Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez are hitting .444, with Rodriguez recording three RBI. Jorge Polanco went deep twice in Game 2.

The Mariners have to feel good about Logan Gilbert getting the ball for this game. In 10.1 innings against the Tigers this year, he's allowed just three earned runs and struck out 19.

Not something Detroit wants to hear, as their offense has been nonexistent the last few weeks. The runs have come at a premium for them, as they scored five runs or more just three times in the previous 16 games. They have to rely on pitching, and today it will be Jack Flaherty. The last time he faced Seattle, he gave up two earned runs, both from solo home runs, but it was the bullpen that eventually lost that game by allowing four runs in the ninth in an 8-4 loss.

The pitching matchup favors Seattle, and the top of the lineup should continue to roll.

Pick: Mariners Moneyline (-136)

Toronto Blue Jays (+128) at New York Yankees (-156) | O/U 7.5 (-115/-105)

The Yankees had a lot of momentum heading into the ALDS as they faced two elimination games against the Red Sox and won both. Now they have to do it again, as they are down 0-2 to the Blue Jays.

Their pitching has been atrocious, allowing 23 runs in the first two games. Not even ace Max Fried could put together a formidable outing, giving up five earned runs in his start. It is up to Carlos Rodon to save the Yankees’ season, but it could be tough, as the Yankees lost both games he started against the Blue Jays this season.

The Blue Jays' short layoff did not cool their bats. The offense was strong throughout September, finishing seventh in runs scored (123) and eighth in slugging rate. They hit well against the Yankees during the regular season, scoring 70 runs, which is tied with the Orioles for the most against any other opponent this year.

Shane Bieber returned in August after missing 16 months due to Tommy John surgery, and the former Cy Young Award winner has looked great. Of his seven starts, he allowed two or fewer earned runs in five of them.

However, Bieber allowed a home run in six starts and two in back-to-back outings. There has been no lack of power among these teams, so we could see another offensive blowout.

Pick: Over 7.5 Runs (-115)
