MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (3/31)

Yesterday’s Opening Day was a major success. Not only were games a bit shorter, but there was more action on the basepaths, and the shift ban helped some base hits get through.

I know a lot of people like to complain about new rules. But once everyone adjusts, these rules will be better for the game.

And for sports betting.

Here are three prop bets to consider for tonight’s action.

Friday’s Best MLB Player Props

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros

Cristian Javier struck out 33.4% of batters last season. He dominated righties even more, earning nearly 40% of strikeouts against right-handed batters.

The White Sox will have five righties in the lineup, along with four lefties. Chicago’s lineup is more balanced than in previous years. However, combining last year’s stats and yesterday’s game, the White Sox have struck out 20% of the time against righties with their lineup.

Javier will rack up the strikeouts tonight.

Bet: Cristian Javier Over 6.5 Ks (+110)

Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres

Kyle Freeland will take the mound for the Rockies tonight. He finished last season with a 5.19 xFIP and struck out 17.1% of batters.

The left-hander was actually much worse against lefties than righties last season. Freeland allowed a .235 ISO to 170 lefties last year.

The Padres won’t have a ton of lefties in the lineup. But Juan Soto will be in the middle of things. He only struck out 16.4% of the time against lefties and should get some solid contact on a couple of Freeland’s pitches tonight.

Bet: Juan Soto Over 0.5 Hits (-190)

Cleveland Guardians vs. Seattle Mariners

The Cleveland Guardians won’t have Tristian McKenzie to start the year. Therefore, Hunter Gaddis will take his place in the rotation. Gaddis faced 40 batters last season in the MLB and didn’t fare well.

He allowed a wOBA of .512 and ISO of .500 to 31 righties. He also gave up a wOBA of .876 with an ISO of 1.111 to the nine lefties that he faced.

Meanwhile, Julio Rodriguez is batting at the top of the order for the Mariners. He’s hit a .231 ISO with a wOBA of .361 against righties dating back to last year. Look for Rodriguez to hit at least one extra-base hit tonight.

Bet: Julio Rodriguez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-120)
