MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (6/2)

We’ve got a bunch of new series getting started tonight in the MLB.

The schedule has interleague play, rivalries, and divisional matchups throughout the weekend.

I’ve added three player props that I’ll be firing on with tonight’s slate. Let’s earn some profit!

Friday’s Best MLB Player Props

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Edward Cabrera Over 6.5 Ks (-134)

Edward Cabrera will take the hill against the Oakland Athletics. He’s struck out 28.3% of batters over the last month while holding a 3.52 xFIP.

Cabrera will face a projected Athletics lineup that has struck out close to 26% of the time against righties in the last month. They’ve got five batters striking out over 27% of the time against righties. With this lineup, Oakland is also hitting 46% of grounders and just 16.3% of line drives over the last month against righties.

I like Cabrera to earn plenty of strikeouts and go deep in tonight’s game.

Zack Wheeler Under 5.5 Ks (-118)

Zack Wheeler has struck out 25.6% of batters over the last 30 days. But he’s only earned 19.7% of strikeouts against lefties in that time.

Against the Nationals, he’ll face six lefties in the lineup. Washington’s projected lineup has struck out 17.5% of the time against righties over the last month. The lefties in the lineup have struck out 15.5% of the time against righties in the last month.

Therefore, it’s unlikely that Wheeler will earn a lot of strikeouts in tonight’s game. He might still be able to go six innings. He’ll still earn plenty of ground balls and limit walks. But he won’t get a bunch of swings and misses against this Nationals lineup.

Nolan Gorman Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)

Roansy Contreras is back in the rotation for the Pirates. He’s got a 6.33 xFIP over the last month and has struck out only 11.3% of batters.

Contreras has been fine against righties. But lefties are hitting a .400 wOBA and ISO of .333 over their last 45 plate appearances against Contreras.

Nolan Gorman is the one lefty destroying righties in the Cardinals’ lineup. Gorman has a .260 ISO and wOBA of .355 against his last 81 righties faced. He’s hit just 28.8% of grounders and has slugged 28.8% of line drives against righties in that time.

Contreras has only struck out 8.9% of lefties in the last month and continues to give up more line drives against lefties. He’s also allowed nearly 53% of hard contact against lefties in those last 30 days.

He’s been terrible against lefties. Therefore, I’ll take Gorman to get at least two total bases tonight.
