MLB Player Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (9/22)

We’re just a couple of weeks away from the MLB Postseason!

Therefore, contending teams are turning it on to finish the season, while the eliminated teams are looking towards the future.

Here are three player props to consider for tonight’s slate of MLB games.

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Mark Vientos Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130)

Mark Vientos is playing his way onto the New York Mets’ roster in 2024.

Vientos has smashed a .267 ISO and wOBA of .356 against his last 49 righties. He’s hit over 48% of hard contact and has a 12.1% barrel percentage against righties throughout that time.

He’ll take on Taijuan Walker of the Phillies, who has given up a .220 ISO and wOBA of .389 to his last 56 righties. Those righties have hit nearly 26% of fly balls and 48.8% of hard contact against Walker. Walker has only earned 15.7% of whiffs and 7.4% of swinging strikes against righties.

Vientos, who has a history of striking out, will limit the strikeouts and put the ball in play against Walker. Over the last month, he has had great success putting the ball into play, and I expect more of the same today.

Ketel Marte Over .5 Total Bases (-180)

Luke Weaver will get the start for the Yankees tonight. Weaver has allowed a .310 ISO and wOBA of .395 against his last 34 left-handed batters.

Weaver has been so bad that he’s been on three teams this season. The right-hander started the season with the Reds. He was cut and got a chance with the Mariners. After five games and no start of five innings or more, he went to the Yankees. With the Yankees, he only threw four innings in his first start, allowing four hits and three runs.

Weaver is just trying to make a roster spot for next year. However, Ketel Marte won’t be any help. Marte will bat left-handed against Wheeler as a switch-hitter. He’s hit a .327 ISO and wOBA of .409 against his last 65 righties.

Meanwhile, Wheeler has allowed more fly balls than ground balls induced and has given up 33.3% of line drives against his last 34 lefties.

Ronald Acuna Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (-130)

Ronald Acuna Jr. has slugged a .233 ISO and wOBA of .409 against his last 32 lefties. But more importantly, he’s struck out just 3.1% of the time against lefties in that span. Acuna Jr. has hit nearly 45% of hard contact and has smacked a 17.2% barrel percentage against lefties in the last month.

Tonight, he’ll take on Patrick Corbin of the Nationals, a lefty allowing a .209 ISO and wOBA of .366 to his last 103 righties. Corbin has allowed a .190 ISO and wOBA of .360 to 617 righties this season. That’s a significant sample size to prove how bad Corbin has been against righties.

Acuna Jr. is one of the best players in baseball. He’ll be the NL MVP this year. Give him a shot to earn two total bases tonight.
