Wednesday’s Best MLB Player Prop Bets

JJ Bleday Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125)
The Athletics have cooled down against righties over the last 30 days. However, there’s been one exception. JJ Bleday has rocked a .226 ISO and wOBA of .372 against his last 72 righties as a left-handed batter. He’s also struck out 15.3% of the time over the previous month against righties and has hit 35.3% of fly balls with 43.1% of hard contact.
Tonight, he’ll take on Cincinnati right-hander Fernando Cruz. Cruz has faced 105 lefties this season and has given up a .264 ISO and wOBA of .394. Over the last month, it’s been more of the same. He’s allowed a .250 ISO and wOBA of .521 to his previous 19 lefties.
Bleday has a lot of potential in tonight’s lineup against Cruz. He’s destroyed righties while lefties have destroyed Cruz.
Chris Bassitt Over 5.5 Ks (-115)
Chris Bassitt should start to see more success against lefties soon. He’s already struck out 27.1% of lefties over the last month and has held lefties to 16.7% of line drives. His walks are a bit high, and his ISO and wOBA are also very high. But if the strikeouts continue and the fly balls slightly go down, he’ll be fine against the Red Sox.
Boston has six lefties in the lineup. Those six lefties have struck out 23.2% of the time combined. Meanwhile, the other three righties have struck out 28.1% of the time against other righties over the last month. Five batters in the Boston lineup have struck out at least 25% of the time. There are also seven batters with strikeout rates exceeding 21%.
Let’s give Bassitt the benefit of the doubt. He can get to six strikeouts.
Chris Sale Over 7.5 Ks (+120)
The Braves will ride with Chris Sale tonight. He’s become one of the best lefties in the game. Sale has struck out 32.8% of batters in the last month and has held those same batters to a .059 ISO and wOBA of .293. In addition, Sale has walked 6.2% of hitters and has earned 13.5% of swinging strikes.
He’ll battle a Twins lineup that has already struck out 25% of the time against lefties. These Twins have five batters with strikeout rates of at least 25.7% and six batters with strikeout rates higher than 20%.
Minnesota has some power, but it isn’t beneficial if the Twins can’t get the ball in play. After all, the Twins’ projected lineup has a .305 wOBA against lefties over the last month. That won’t cut it against Sale. Take Sale’s Over.
