Friday’s Best MLB Player Prop Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Zack Wheeler Over 7.5 Ks (+110)
Zack Wheeler has already struck out 28.8% of batters over the last month. That’s above his seasonal average of 27.7%. He’s struck out 35.4% of lefties and 24.3% of righties.
The good news is, he’ll face a Rays lineup that has six lefties in the projected lineup. Those six lefties have struck out 28.7% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. Meanwhile, the three righties in the lineup have still struck out more than 20% of the time combined over the last month.
In addition, Wheeler has held his last 118 batters to a .114 ISO and wOBA of .225. It’s likely he pitches deep in this game, especially with the Rays’ lineup hitting a .128 ISO and wOBA of .281 over the last month. Take Wheeler to add at least eight strikeouts at +116.
Kerry Carpenter Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
The Detroit Tigers are set to face Tanner Gordon of the Colorado Rockies. While this game will be played in Detroit, Gordon is still expected to get rocked by the Detroit lefties tonight.
Gordon has allowed a .312 ISO and wOBA of .582 against his last 19 lefties. He’s also struck out only 10.5% of lefties in the previous 30 days and has allowed 42.9% of fly balls with only 35.7% of ground balls induced over the last month.
Meanwhile, a lefty, Kerry Carpenter, has hit a .302 ISO and wOBA of .428 against his last 70 righties. He’s struck out nearly 33% of the time against righties in the previous month, but Gordon isn’t much of a threat for strikeouts. He’s added just 6.9% of strikeouts over the last 29 plate appearances.
Therefore, let’s back Carpenter to earn at least two total bases in tonight’s ball game.
Mickey Moniak Over 1.5 Total Bases (+115)
The Angels haven’t had much success offensively against righties over the last 30 days. But Mickey Moniak is trying to change that. He’s added a .350 ISO and wOBA of .370 against his last 64 righties. Moniak, a lefty, has also yanked 68.3% of hard contact with a 17.1% barrel percentage against righties in the last 30 days.
Beyond that, he’s hit 26.8% of fly balls against righties.
Tonight, he’ll battle Zebby Matthews of the Twins. Matthews is a right-handed pitcher who has done very well against righties. However, the same can’t be said against lefties. Matthews has allowed a .412 ISO and wOBA of .508 against his last 54 lefties. He’s also allowed 35% of fly balls and has induced only 32% of ground balls.
Furthermore, Matthews has given up 70% of hard contact to lefties and has earned only 20.4% of strikeouts.
Moniak’s numbers look great against Matthews’ numbers. Take a chance with Moniak to earn at least two total bases.
