Top 3 MLB Player Prop Bets: Yankees vs. Dodgers (World Series Game 5)

The Yankees saved embarrassment with an 11-4 victory in Game 4 of the 2024 MLB World Series. The Dodgers and Yankees will play one more game in Yankee Stadium tonight. If New York wins, we’ll head to Game 6 in Los Angeles. However, if the Dodgers win, the World Series will conclude, crowning the Dodgers champions.

I’ve added three player props for tonight’s World Series Game 5. Los Angeles’ Jack Flaherty (1-2, 6.10 ERA) will face New York’s Gerrit Cole (1-0, 2.82 ERA).

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Giancarlo Stanton Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130)

Giancarlo Stanton has smashed a .385 ISO and wOBA of .404 against his last 42 righties. He’s also struck out only 21.4% of the time against righties and has hit 30% of fly balls with 70% of hard contact.

In addition, Stanton has smashed a 20% barrel percentage and only 40% of ground balls against righties.

He’ll go up against Jack Flaherty of the Dodgers. Flaherty has allowed a .302 ISO and wOBA of .358 to his last 47 righties. In addition, he’s given up 34.4% of fly balls and 62.5% of hard contact to righties in the previous 30 days.

If Stanton connects against Flaherty, he’s got a very good chance at earning an extra-base hit.

Gerrit Cole Under 5.5 Ks (-160)

The Yankees will roll with ace pitcher Gerrit Cole. Cole hasn’t been an “ace” for the Yankees this season. But he still looked good in his first start against the Dodgers in Game 1.

Over the last 30 days, Cole has allowed a .106 ISO and wOBA of .298. However, he’s only struck out 17% of batters. He’ll go up against a Los Angeles lineup that has struck out just 18.4% of the time against righties in the last 30 days.

Only Kike Hernandez has added a higher strikeout rate than 22.5% against righties in the last 30 days in the Dodgers’ projected lineup.

Therefore, it’s hard to imagine Cole mowing down hitters tonight. Take his Under.

Jack Flaherty Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-115)

Jack Flaherty looked sensational in Game 1, just like he had looked in Game 1 against the New York Mets in the NLCS. But when Game 5 came around, Flaherty was flat. The Mets saw him for a second time and delivered in their home ballpark.

I’m expecting the same from the Yankees.

Flaherty has still allowed a .225 ISO and wOBAs of .350 to his last 89 batters. These aren’t good stats. Beyond that, he’s added just 15.7% of strikeouts and has allowed 56.1% of hard contact.

New York has a lot of power in the lineup. Aaron Judge hasn’t shown it off just yet, but he’s got a really good matchup against Flaherty, as Stanton and Gleybar Torres do.

I’ll take Flaherty to go Over 2.5 earned runs allowed.
