Ben Brown Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-146)

Ben Brown will have to compete against Tarik Skubal tonight. He knows he’ll have to be on his A-game.

That said, over the last 30 days, he’s struck out 33.6% of batters. This season, he’s still added nearly 28% of strikeouts. Brown has struggled against lefties, allowing a .225 ISO and wOBA of .358 to his last 43 batters. But he’s also struck out nearly 35% of those lefties as well.

Meanwhile, the Tigers’ projected lineup has struck out close to 25% of the time. There are seven batters in the projected lineup who have struck out at least 24% of the time against righties. Brown might give up a home run or two. But if he’s able to get through even five innings, I’d like to think he’ll get to at least six strikeouts. He’s got a ton of targets to work with.

Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-120)

The Houston Astros will ride it out with Colton Gordon tonight. The left-hander has done phenomenally against left-handed hitters. However, righties have added a .286 ISO and wOBA of .384 against him so far this season.

Gordon will have to face Jose Ramirez, who will bat from the right side tonight. Ramirez has slugged a .192 ISO and wOBA of .527 against his last 27 lefties. He’s also struck out only 11.1% of the time and has hit 30.4% of line drives with a 65.2% hard contact rate.

Ramirez rarely hits ground balls against lefties and typically hits hard line drives. Gordon has allowed 27.8% of line drives and 48.1% of hard contact to righties over the last month.

Christian Yelich Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)

The Padres are set to throw Randy Vasquez for tonight’s showdown against the Milwaukee Brewers. Vasquez has pitched well against righties, but has been rocked by lefties over the last month and throughout the season.

Vasquez has allowed a .415 ISO and wOBA of .460 to his last 47 lefties. He’s also allowed 40% of fly balls and 73.3% of hard contact to his last 47 lefties.

Conversely, Christian Yelich has smacked a .288 ISO and wOBA of .403 as a left-handed hitter against righties over the last 30 days. He typically won’t walk against righties and has hit 49% of hard contact with nearly 26% of line drives.

Plus, Yelich has earned a 9.8% barrel rate against righties and a .311 batting average on balls in play (BABIP). Ultimately, he should have even more success against Vasquez, who has allowed a ridiculous 26.7% barrel rate to lefties over the last month. Vasquez has also earned just 8% of swinging strikes against lefties in that same time frame.

Let’s back Yelich to go over 1.5 total bases.
