MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Thursday, July 28 (2022)

We’ve been getting extremely close on some of these same-game parlays this week. Unfortunately, we haven’t hit one yet, but I think today is the day we get one.

Tail along if you agree! Here are three Same-Game Parlays for today’s slate in the MLB.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

  • Leg 1: Zack Wheeler Over 6.5 K’s (+114)
  • Leg 2: Kyle Schwarber 2+ Total Bases (+105)
  • Leg 3: Darick Hall 1+ Hit (-210)

The Phillies will send out Zack Wheeler after a series win over the Atlanta Braves. Philadelphia has to be feeling confident going into this series.

Wheeler has had a 4.13 xFIP in the last 30 days, striking out 22.8% of batters. Sure, he’s not getting nearly as many strikeouts as we’re used to, but he’s taking on a Pirates lineup that has struck out 27.8% of the time against righties in the last 30 days.

Every batter in the Pirates’ projected order has struck out 21% of the time or higher, but one batter in that time frame.

Meanwhile, Zach Thompson will get the call for the Pirates. Thompson has a 5.22 xFIP in the last 30 days while only striking out 10.8% of batters faced. Lefties are hitting a .420 wOBA and ISO of .250 in his previous 30 plate appearances against them.

Kyle Schwarber will lead things off for the Phillies and has a .364 ISO against righties in his last 72 plate appearances. On the other hand, Darick Hall, another lefty, is hitting a .309 ISO against righties in his previous 71 plate appearances. Those two lefties should be able to help the Phillies put some runs on the board today.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies

  • Leg 1: Freddie Freeman 2+ Total Bases (-155)
  • Leg 2: Jake Lamb 2+ Total Bases (+120)
  • Leg 3: Gavin Lux 2+ Total Bases (+100)

The Los Angeles Dodgers will head to Coors Field to take on the Rockies. Jose Urena will get the start for Colorado, and in the last 30 days, he’s just been escaping so many jams.

Urena has a 4.96 xFIP in those 30 days and has only struck out 14% of batters faced. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have a ton of power potential going up against Urena, with six batters hitting an above-average ISO in the last month against righties.

Urena has allowed a .380 wOBA to lefties and is giving up 28.6% of line drives when balls are batted into play by lefties. So let’s stack the lefties against Urena.

Freddie Freeman has a .358 ISO and wOBA of .490 against righties in his last 75 plate appearances. Meanwhile, Jake Lamb has a .262 ISO and wOBA of .366 against righties in his last 48 plate appearances. Lastly, Gavin Lux, another lefty, has a .277 ISO and wOBA of .470 against his last 55 plate appearances against righties. Look for these three lefties to have success tonight.

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels

  • Leg 1: Shohei Ohtani to hit a Home Run (+285)
  • Leg 2: Shohei Ohtani Over 8.5 K’s (-104)
  • Leg 3: Jared Walsh 1+ Hit (-240)

I’m calling it. Shohei Ohtani is not only going to earn at least nine strikeouts in tonight’s game, but he’s also going to hit a home run off Spencer Howard.

Howard has a 6.97 xFIP in the last 30 days, with more walks than strikeouts in that time frame. Lefties are hitting a .406 wOBA and ISO of .286 against Howard, and Ohtani is hitting a .327 ISO and wOBA of .390 against righties in his last 64 plate appearances against them.

Like Ohtani, Jared Walsh is also a lefty with potential against Howard. He’s struggled recently, but not many major league hitters have struggled against Howard this season, and Walsh can get us a hit.

On the other hand, Ohtani has a 2.01 xFIP in the last 30 days on the mound and has also struck out 44% of batters. Once you get passed Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, batters 3-8 are all striking out at least 20% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. Ohtani will get his strikeouts in the middle of this order.
