MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Tuesday, August 9 (2022)

With a full slate of games on the horizon tonight, I’ve put together three Same-Game Parlays that look really juicy. The goal is to hit one of three.

If we hit one of three Same-Game Parlays, we’re making a profit and that’s the name of the game. So let’s get right to it.

Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies

  • Leg 1: Zack Wheeler Over 6.5 K’s (-134)
  • Leg 2: Alec Bohm 2+ Total Bases (+100)
  • Leg 3: J.T. Realmuto 2+ Total Bases (+105)

The Philadelphia Phillies are red hot right now. They’re hitting a .239 ISO and wOBA of .398 against lefties in the last 30 days.

Tonight, Braxton Garrett will take the mound for the Marlins. The lefty has been terrific, don’t get me wrong, but it seems like he’s stat padding against below .500 teams. Alec Bohm is hitting a .316 ISO and wOBA of .589 against lefties through his last 23 plate appearances, while J.T. Realmuto is hitting a .308 ISO with a .437 wOBA against lefties through his last 16 plate appearances.

The righties in this Phillies lineup should be able to get to Garrett in this one. Meanwhile, Zack Wheeler has struck out 26% of batters faced in the last 30 days. He’s now facing a Marlins lineup that has five batters striking out at least 20% of the time. Wheeler figures to go pretty deep in tonight’s game with the Miami offense really struggling at the plate.

I like everything Phillies for this Same-Game Parlay.

Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Mets

  • Leg 1: Carlos Carrasco Over 5.5 K’s (-130)
  • Leg 2: Pete Alonso 2+ Total Bases (-110)
  • Leg 3: Darin Ruf 2+ Total Bases (+120)

Like the Phillies, the Mets have also been red hot as of late. They’ll take on Mike Minor of the Reds, who has a 7.34 xFIP in the last 30 days.

That’s almost unheard of. Minor is allowing more line drives than ground balls when balls are hit into play. Against his last 76 righties faced, Minor has allowed a .437 wOBA and ISO of .297 to righties.

Insert Pete Alonso and Darin Ruf, who are certified sluggers against lefties. Alonso has a .353 ISO and wOBA of .652 against his last 24 lefties, while Darin Ruf has a .351 ISO and wOBA of .399 against lefties in his last 42 plate appearances against lefties.

Those two are going to do major damage to Minor. On the other hand, Carlos Carrasco has a 3.93 xFIP in the last 30 days and will take the hill for the Mets. He figures to go pretty deep in tonight’s game as well and will take on a Reds lineup where every single batter strikes out at least 18.8% of the time.

Back the Mets in this parlay.

Chicago Cubs vs. Washington Nationals

  • Leg 1: Marcus Stroman Over 4.5 K’s  (-166)
  • Leg 2: Willson Contreras 2+ Total Bases (+105)
  • Leg 3: Nico Hoerner 2+ Total Bases (-210)

Right off the bat, Marcus Stroman will take on a Nationals lineup that has six batters striking out at least 21.4% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. There will be plenty of opportunities for Stroman to earn his strikeouts. He also projects to go pretty deep in tonight’s game against a Nationals lineup that has a .092 ISO and wOBA of .272 in the last 30 days against righties.

He’ll take on Paolo Espino, who has a 5.37 xFIP in the last 30 days. Righties have hit a .470 wOBA and ISO of .412 against Espino in his last 54 plate appearances against righties.

So let’s back some righties on the Cubs. Willson Contreras has a .254 ISO and wOBA of .339 against righties in the last 30 days, while Nico Hoerner is batting a .337 wOBA with just 9.1% of strikeouts against righties in the last 30 days.

I also like P.J. Higgins to get a hit, but he’s currently not listed on FanDuel. He’s another option if you’d prefer swapping someone else out. You’ll just have to wait until lineups are announced before getting the chance to insert him in your Same-Game Parlay.
