MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (9/8)
With the playoff races heating up, we have a bunch of indivision matchups on the board and other games with huge playoff implications. Let’s dive into the slate and find our favorite SGP plays today.
Friday’s Best MLB Same Game Parlays
Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies
Marlins ML (+115) and o4.5 Runs (+110)
The Marlins are sending their young ace, Eury Perez, to the mound, and while the ERA estimators are not as big of a fan of him as his surface numbers suggest, he is proving why he was among the top-ranked pitching prospects in baseball. While the Phillies have a top-end offense, Perez is talented enough to keep them off the board as long as he keeps the ball in the yard. He should put the Marlins in a position to win. Cristopher Sanchez has been a great find for the Phillies, but the Marlins have a good offense versus lefties. Their wRC+ is 108 versus Southpaws, and with many of their deadline additions, they added more hitters who excel against lefties.
Chisholm is not great versus lefties in his career, but the issue is mostly a lack of walks and too many strikeouts. His power numbers aren’t crazy, but these odds are a bit too high and fit in well with this bet.
Combined Odds: +450
San Diego Padres at Houston Astros
Padres ML (+110) and o5.5 Runs (+205)
Blake Snell is the current favorite for the NL CY Young, and while his walk numbers are terrible, he has been able to overcome that shortcoming to post dominant numbers. The Astros’ lineup is excellent, but Snell has been on an incredible run and has the edge in this pitching matchup. Hunter Brown has developed a bit of a homer issue lately, and while the Padres offense has struggled a bit this season, they still have plenty of firepower at the top of the order, which should be able to take advantage of Brown’s issues.
Fernando Tatis Jr. 2+ TBs (+120)
Tatis is one of the best hitters in baseball and has the power to take advantage of Brown’s struggles with the long ball. His power plays well against all pitchers, and I’m surprised the odds are this high.
Combined Odds: +450
Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers
White Sox ML (+105) and o4.5 Runs (+125)
The White Sox are in the midst of a terrible season, and Mike Clevinger has not been a great signing, but I like them as the underdogs here. Reese Olson has been one of my favorite young arms, but we are betting that we get the bad version of him today. Olson has shown flashes of greatness mixed with some big blow-up games, usually due to the long ball. The Sox do not have a ton of real elite power threats, but there are enough decent hitters to hit this over. The Tigers’ offense has been better lately, but still not scary enough for me to fear them in this one.
Moncada has never really hit the highs we expected, but his 93 wRC+ definitely isn’t terrible, and the odds here seem a bit higher than they should. His ISO is not terrible at 0.145, and I think he has a good game today.
Combined Odds: +450
