(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Houston Astros at Arizona Diamondbacks
- Leg 1: Diamondback Moneyline (-105)
- Leg 2: Under 9.5 Total Runs (-140)
- Leg 3: Jose Altuve 2+ Total Bases (+100)
Merrill Kelly had his breakout season last year, and he's carried that into this season, as his 3.38 ERA is just .01 off his career-best. He had one bad start in September, but in the other four, he's gone at least five innings and allowed two or fewer runs.
Justin Verlander has been outstanding in his return to Houston and is 6-3 with a 3.57 ERA. He's seen parts of this Arizona lineup, and they've done well against him with a lifetime batting average of .276.
Parlay Odds: +569
Tampa Bay Rays at Toronto Blue Jays
- Leg 1: Rays Moneyline (-115)
- Leg 2: Over 9.5 Total Runs (+110)
- Leg 3: Bo Bichette 2+ Total Bases (+105)
Zack Littell has moved into the starting rotation after spending most of the season in the bullpen for the Red Sox and Rays. He's filled the role nicely and is coming off two of his best starts, allowing only five earned in the last 25 innings. Unfortunately, they've been a waste, with the Rays going 1-3 in those games due to a lack of run support.
Hyun Jin Ryu has been a great late addition to this Blue Jays rotation after missing most of the year recovering from Tommy John surgery. He's allowed three or fewer runs in eight of 10 starts, but not against the Rays, where last week he gave up five earned, walked three and allowed three home runs.
The Blue Jays could get this win and secure a playoff spot, but they will have to hope for a Houston or Seattle loss to get it.
Parlay Odds: +705
Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles
- Leg 1: Red Sox Moneyline (+110)
- Leg 2: Over 8.5 Total Runs (-105)
- Leg 3: Rafael Devers 2+ Total Bases (+120)
Kyle Gibson's record and ERA are better than last season, but the overall metrics show regression. The strikeout percentage has dropped to below 20%, the walk rate has increased by one and movement on his pitches has also declined.
After one of his worst starts earlier in the month, Kutter Crawford has pitched well in this last three, with a 3.38 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 16 innings. Although effective, it hasn't resulted in success, as the Red Sox are only 1-2 in those starts.
I'm not counting on either pitcher to do well in this game, but with the O's already clinching the top seed in the AL, they're beginning to rest players.
Total Parlay: +820
