MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Thursday (9/8)

Unfortunately, we didn’t hit a same-game parlay with our three selections yesterday in the MLB. However, if you’ve followed along, you’re absolutely in the green over the last two weeks.

We’ve hit four parlays over these articles’ last five days, with odds greater than +400. It’s been a fun ride. Let’s see if we can get back on track with three more same-game parlays.

San Francisco Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers (Game 1)

  • Leg 1: Corbin Burnes Over 7.5 K’s (-106)
  • Leg 2: Hunter Renfroe 2+ Hits (+300)
  • Leg 3: Andrew McCutchen 1+ Hit (-190)

In the first game of a doubleheader, the Brewers will send out Corbin Burnes to go up against the San Francisco Giants. Burnes has only struck out 20.5% of batters faced in the last 30 days. That’s unusual for Burnes.

That number should increase going up against a Giants lineup that has struck out 24.6% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. In the projected lineup, seven batters have struck out at least 20% of the time against righties.

On the other hand, Scott Alexander will get the call for the Giants. He’s a lefty who will struggle against righties a bit more. So we’ve stacked Andrew McCutchen and Hunter Renfroe in this parlay.

Renfroe is hitting a .148 ISO but has a wOBA of .422 against lefties in the last month, while McCutchen has smacked a .219 ISO with 23.8% of line drives against lefties over the previous 30 days.

The Brewers should take care of business in the first game of the doubleheader.

Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies

  • Leg 1: Sandy Alcantara Over 6.5 K’s (-108)
  • Leg 2: Kyle Gibson Over 4.5 K’s (-140)
  • Leg 3: JJ Bleday 1+ Hit (-155)

The Marlins will pitch the most likely NL Cy Young candidate, Sandy Alcantara, in tonight’s ball game. Alcantara has struck out 21% of batters in the last 30 days, but he’s also capable of going seven, eight, or nine innings in every game he pitches. The longer he’s out there, the more chance of strikeouts.

The Phillies have also struck out nearly 21% of the time against righties in the last 30 days as a projected lineup. Alcantara could get at least seven going up against that lineup.

On the other hand, Kyle Gibson has struck out nearly 25% of batters in the last 30 days. He’ll go up against a Marlins lineup that has struck out over 20% of the time against righties. The Marlins are hitting a .123 ISO and wOBA of .286 against righties in that same time frame. Therefore, Gibson will likely pitch six innings or more against the Marlins. That would earn him at least five strikeouts.

The only batter who can do damage against Gibson would be JJ Bleday, a lefty, hitting .222 ISO with a wOBA of .349. Gibson has allowed a .440 wOBA and ISO of .237 against lefties over his last 66 plate appearances against him.

Chicago White Sox vs. Oakland Athletics

  • Leg 1: Elvis Andrus 1+ Hit (-240)
  • Leg 2: Dylan Cease Over 7.5 K’s (-154)
  • Leg 3: Yasmani Grandal 2+ Total Bases (+185)

The red-hot Chicago White Sox will take on a lefty in J.P. Sears. The White Sox will have a full lineup of righties ready to damage against the lefty.

Sears has a 5.35 xFIP while striking out just 14.7% of batters over the last month.

The White Sox will feature a couple of hitters who have destroyed lefties as of late. Elvis Andrus has a .476 ISO with a wOBA of .500 against lefties. He’ll bat leadoff and has 0 walks in 21 plate appearances. Andrus is putting the ball in play against lefties right now.

Yasmani Grandal, on the other hand, has walked 25% of plate appearances against lefties. However, he’s also hitting a .364 ISOS with a wOBA of .584 through his last 16 plate appearances. Grandal is an extra-base machine against lefties right now.

Lastly, Dylan Cease has struck out 25.4% of batters for the White Sox in the last 30 days. He’ll take on an Oakland lineup with five batters striking out 20.9% of the time or more in the previous 30 days against righties. Cease also figures to go deep in this game against a terrible Athletics lineup. He’ll earn a high amount of strikeouts in a win.
