MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Thursday, August 11 (2022)
We hit a +419 Same-Game Parlay in the Giants and Padres game last night! Can we get a streak going with another Same-Game Parlay winner today?
Here are a few Same-Game Parlay choices including a Same-Game Parlay for the Field of Dreams game in Iowa between the Cubs and Reds.
Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros
- Leg 1: Framber Valdez Over 6.5 Ks (-122)
- Leg 2: Jose Altuve 2+ Total Bases (-125)
- Leg 3: Yordan Alvarez 2+ Total Bases (-115)
The Astros will send Framber Valdez to the hill against the Rangers. Valdez has a 3.55 xFIP, but more importantly, he has struck out 21.4% of batters faced in the last 30 days.
The Rangers’ projected lineup has struck out 29.9% of the time against lefties in that same time frame. It’s safe to say that Valdez will have plenty of opportunities to earn strikeouts against the Rangers.
Meanwhile, Cole Ragans will take the hill for the Rangers. Through his last 22 plate appearances, he has a 7.12 xFIP. He’s walked more than he’s struck out between those 22 batters and will now take on a couple of hard-hitting, consistent batters in the Astros’ lineup.
Jose Altuve is hitting a .320 ISO with a wOBA of .455 against lefties through his last 28 plate appearances against them. On the other hand, Yordan Alvarez has hit a .588 ISO with a wOBA of .557 against lefties in his last 21 plate appearances.
Look for the Astros to control today’s game.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
- Leg 1: Merrill Kelly Over 5.5 Ks (+124)
- Leg 2: J.T. Brubaker Under 5.5 Ks (-158)
- Leg 3: Daulton Varsho 1+ Hit (-200)
The Pirates will send J.T. Brubaker to the hill for today’s game. Brubaker has a 3.39 xFIP while striking out 24% of batters faced in the last 30 days.
However, the Diamondbacks have struck out just 20.2% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. Only Seth Beer and Geraldo Perdomo have struck out more than 20% of the time against righties. Both of those batters are buried in the bottom of the order. Brubaker likely won’t be earning a ton of strikeouts today.
Plus, Daulton Varsho is hitting a .268 ISO with a wOBA of .391 against righties in his last 67 plate appearances against them. If anyone’s going to do damage against Brubaker, it’s Varsho.
Meanwhile, Merrill Kelly will take the hill for the Diamondbacks. He, on the other hand, should end up with a high strikeout rate. He’s struck out 22.7% of batters faced in the last 30 days and is taking on a Pirates lineup that has six batters who have struck out at least 21% of the time against righties in that same time frame.

Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds

- Leg 3: Jose Barrero 1+ Hit (-145)
The Field of Dreams game is a bit tricky. Nothing really stands out to me in this game, but I promised I’d put together a parlay for this specific game.
I’m liking the Reds to win this game with Nick Lodolo on the mound. He’s struck out 29.1% of batters faced in the last 30 days and will face a Cubs lineup that has struck out over 24% of the time in that same time frame.
Meanwhile, Drew Smyly will pitch for the Cubs. The lefty will have to face eight righties in the Reds’ lineup tonight. That’s not a good thing.
Smyly has been a bit worse against righties in the last 30 days, giving up a wOBA of .333. This isn’t a brutal number, but a number that still stands out. Jose Barrero has a .750 ISO and wOBA of .483 against his last eight lefties faced. The young rookie has shown that he’s very capable of hitting lefties in the majors.
Lastly, Donovan Solano is hitting a .200 ISO with a wOBA of .408 against lefties. He’s another righty that can smack Smyly with a high line-drive rate and a low ground-ball rate.
I’m siding with the Reds tonight and this Same-Game Parlay reflects that.
