    Cincinnati Reds vs. Atlanta Braves

The Cincinnati Reds will roll with Brady Singer tonight. He’s a right-hander who has struck out 26.7% of batters this year. He’s added 25.9% of strikeouts against lefties and 27.8% of strikeouts against righties. Ultimately, he’s succeeded against both sides of the plate to start the season. Beyond that, he’s limited his first 135 batters to a .149 ISO and wOBA of .271. Tonight, he’ll take on a Braves projected lineup with six players who have struck out at least 23.3% of the time dating back to last season against righties. Singer has a lot of potential tonight.

Meanwhile, AJ Smith-Shawver will get the start for the Braves. The righty has added 25.6% of strikeouts, but has only earned 20% of strikeouts against righties. He’s also walked 15% of righties and has allowed a .182 ISO and wOBA of .429 to his first 40 righties this season. Those same 40 righties have hit 42.3% of line drives and only 30.8% of ground balls against Smith-Shawver.

That said, the Reds have two righties that can do damage. Over the last 568 righties faced, Spencer Steer has hit a .177 ISO and wOBA of .317. He’s struggled more this season, but dating back to last year, Steer still has quality stats. He could potentially break out tonight. Tyler Stephenson will hit behind Steer. He’s added a .165 ISO and wOBA of .336 over his last 384 righties faced. Those two can put up some big numbers tonight against Smith-Shawver.

    Houston Astros vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Houston Astros will pitch Ronel Blanco for tonight’s game against the Brewers. Blanco is a right-handed pitcher who has been awful against lefties this year. He’s only added 9.4% of strikeouts and has walked 15.1% of lefties. In addition, he’s given up a .302 ISO and wOBA of .387 with more fly balls than ground balls induced to lefties this season.

That said, Christian Yelich has added a .227 ISO and wOBA of .364 against his last 78 righties. He’s limited strikeouts to 20.5% and has hit 66.7% of hard contact against righties.

Brice Turang is another left-handed hitter with a .352 wOBA against his last 77 righties. He’s limited strikeouts to below 17% and has earned a .396 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) with a 58.5% hard contact rate. Turang’s speed should help him get on base multiple times. Plus, we’re so high on Yelich, it’s likely Yelich can bring Turang home. After all, Yelich will likely bat fourth in the lineup, with Turang in the two-spot.
