Kansas City Royals at Tampa Bay Rays

The Kansas City Royals will send out Michael Lorenzen tonight. The right-handed pitcher has struggled with righties for the second consecutive season. He’s already allowed a .216 ISO and wOBA of .347 to his first 56 right-handed batters this season. Meanwhile, he allowed a .189 ISO and wOBA of .350 to 291 righties last season. This has been an ongoing problem.

That said, Junior Caminero and Christopher Morel have been the hottest right-handed batters against righties this season. Caminero has slugged a .236 ISO and wOBA of .347, while Morel has earned a .200 ISO and wOBA of .388 against his last 57 righties. Those two have terrific matchups against Lorenzen, who has allowed more fly balls than ground balls induced against righties this year.

On the other hand, Taj Bradley has recorded just 22.5% of strikeouts this season. That’s already below average. However, he’ll face a Royals projected lineup that has struck out only 19.4% of the time against righties this season. There are only two batters in the Royals’ lineup who have struck out more than 21.5% of the time against righties. Take Bradley’s Under to conclude this parlay.

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays

The Boston Red Sox could have a big day on offense tonight. They’re facing Bowden Francis of the Blue Jays, who has already allowed a .309 ISO and wOBA of .363 to his first 64 lefties this season.

Those lefties have also struck out just 20.3% of the time and have added nearly 11% of walks against Francis this season.

That said, Jarren Duran has added a .155 ISO and wOBA of .366 with only 18.1% of strikeouts against right-handed pitching this season. He’s also hit 26.5% of line drives with 48.5% of hard contact against righties. Behind him in the lineup is Rafael Devers, who has smashed a .208 ISO and wOBA of .341 against righties this season. He’s limited ground balls well against righties and has hit 70.6% of hard contact when putting the ball in play against righties.

Finally, Wilyer Abreu has earned a .266 ISO and wOBA of .404. He’s another lefty who has found consistent success against righties, hitting 37.5% of fly balls and only 23.2% of ground balls.

The Red Sox lefties can put on a show tonight.
